I have been making food deliveries across the city. It is disheartening how truly unequal neighborhoods are treated. Please stop dumping in my neighborhood. Share the unwealth and the wealth!

why not look at a protocol that has a proven track record and locate them in every District! Here's an example: https://saranamabq.org

Not thrilled about the impact this would have on Wilson Middle School 2 blocks away from this site, and the already swamped VA hospital right next door.

Our district has taken more than OUR fair share of ABQ's burden,

We've lived in the International District for over 35 years. District 6, is one of the most neglected areas of our city. Do not contribute to the problem by placing this low barrier Gateway shelter in any part of this district. We cannot afford the additional burden. After all, we currently have 9 districts in this city, and as you're so fond of saying - everyone needs to share the burden. District 6 has shouldered more than its share. Paragraph 3 of this petition says it all, truthfully and eloquently.

The cost of asbestos remediation that would be required to repurpose the old Lovelace Hospital on Gibson would be far greater than the projected cost predicted by the City but there is a far greater cost that should be considered. Walling off ABQ’s homeless into a location not dissimilar to a minimum security prison places this population out of sight and out of mind of a City that has intentionally marginalized that location and the homeless, again. The continued irresponsible use by City administrations of working class neighborhoods as minimum security prisons over the past five decades has cost and will continue to cost all of ABQ many millions of dollars, its reputation as a business investment and its bond rating (which is currently only AA). The AA or lower bond rating locks in a higher rate for all of us to pay back and thus decreases our ability to reinvest in our City's infrastructure and amenities, creating an ever increasing spiral hopelessness that will effect the entire metro and become a burden to the state. Sadly, those of us who have invested time and money into this City's working class neighborhoods have found that our only protection from this City's administrations (past and present) institutional marginalization and disenfranchisement may be to encourage those costs to the greater community until a City administration cries "uncle" and reverses its course to accept a far more responsible and sustainable metropolitan model.

Lowers neighborhood value. Does not fix our homeless problem.
