A new large homeless in District 6 ? -- the mayor's office must be kidding. As mentioned in the letter this district has long hosted numerous shelters/drug clinics and is already reeling from crime and neglect by the city. Any large new shelter should be placed in any one of several other districts better able to absorb the impact. Will determine my vote in the next election.

What a shame to have us put up with all the beak in in this area not to mention all the businesses in non hill that have had their establishment robbed.

Not an acceptable place for a homeless venue.
This area already has issues with enormous crime, the Veterans Hospital is located right behind the the Lovelace property that has several established tenants. One of them is a behavioral hospital which is desperately needed in this city. It appears the city is willing to look the other away and place the homeless in an area that is already stressed, and making a Federal property vulnerable. The City of Albuquerque needs to keep looking even if it into multiple properties. The old K-mart at ( Carlisle and Indian School could be used for an out-patient clinic and temporary housing .) There are 100’s of vacant portables from APS not in use.
The old Presbyterian Administration building by the Airport that just sits there. Many options.

I too say NO GATEWAY SHELTER at LOVELACE GIBSON or nearby any neighborhood. It's time that the Mayor and city counselors listen to the people who make up our communities. Perhaps next election it will be time to make a change.

Still fuming over the ART project. Now this?! When does public opinion matter? We already suffer from daily residential theft in our area. I’ve never felt less safe in the city and my home. Now this! Dismayed doesn’t begin to describe how I feel about this new city debacle.

Our district is disproportionately burdened with services. So is District 2. Yet, we do not receive the project, infrastructure or improvement funds enjoyed by other districts that do not share social services burden. This mega center approach will further blight an already troubled community. Small service model is better option and other districts need to be part of solution.

It was our understanding that Gateway was not going to be located near neighborhoods, businesses, schools or places of worship. Why was this changed in mid-stream? To place this in District 6 is another clear case of disenfranchisement. In addition to the negative impact that it will have in an already economically challenged area, has anyone considered the impact it will have along Gibson to the VA, KAFB and Sandia when campsites go up? APD would not be in a position to clear the area from one day to the next as we have already seen in the parks. It's a never ending task.

This is not the place for this facility. This area has many homes, families, and crime is rampid. This will increase the crime and panhandling.
