No Funding for Blake Lane Park Destruction - Transfer Land to FCPA!

After each meeting, time and time again it has been stated that the board will take its time evaluating the situation and the different locations of the park. They would be reviewing how One Fairfax would apply to this particular situation. Hearing that the board is continuing to push to gain funding with no slow down feels as if the board is not listening to the community and being transparent in the decisions being made.

We NEED the park as park, not school!

Stop the insanity of overgrowth and overbuilding in the Northern Virginia area. There has to be a site that works better to service the families of Oakton.

Please save this green space for us!

Absolutely not in favor of eliminating one of the few remaining open spaces in Oakton.

I live very close to Blake Lane Park and see it being used by residents every time I drive past. I like my quiet neighborhood that would not remain quiet if a school were built on that property.

Please do not build an elementary school in my backyard!!! I love the green space and dog park. The kids need this park to play in and we need it to keep the birds and other animals in their home. Please find another space for a school!!!!

There are not many dog parks at all. Thought this was a pet friendly county. The new splash park is a joke.

SAVE BLAKE LANE PARK! I’m tired of the school board getting everything they want! It’s time that they learn a modicum of restraint. Also, they LIED when they said they would wait a year!

Blake Lane Park is critical open space for a densely developed and diverse neighborhood. It has no other ready options. There is no need for another school here. What is needed is redistricting. Do the hard work. Don’t make this neighborhood suffer.

I use this park regularly. I moved here because of the park. I literally live right next to it. This will affect my life every day. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. This is my first home. A massive, stressful, exciting life milestone that suddenly is not what I just signed up for. My last place had 3 schools on my road. Traffic was a nightmare every morning. I timed when I left and returned home around their schedule. Not being near a school and having to deal with that stress was a selling point. Criteria I was specifically looking for based on experience. And now its going to happen all over again. I love looking pur my window to green open space. I love walking next door to read, sit in the sun, go for walks. And the thought of that goi g away makes me physically I'll. My exciting milestone is suddenly headed towards being a poor life choice in just two years. Its heartbreaking. And this community is not being listened to. We are being told "well this was zoned for a school in the 70s, so you all should have known this would happen." I guess my new lesson learned next time is make to sure none of the land around me was zoned for building 50 years ago. Shame on us for not thinking to check that. Shame you for believing this is still the same area and appropriate for a school 50 years later without appropriate studies, shame on you for not appropriately engaging and communicating with this community before making decisions, shame on you for blaming the people of your home district for not knowing a zoning law from 50 years ago, shame on you for trying not to preserve one of the last green spaces people have in this county, and definitely shame on you for holding the next meeting on it at 9am on a Wednesday knowing community turn out will be low because are at work. If you are making a controversial, protested decision, at least have the courage to face those people and stand by your decision instead of taking the route that makes it easier for you
