I can't see what's going to be gained... Maintaining the health and welfare of the semi wild ponies is going to far out weigh the cost of just cutting the grass. I think the ponies will be subject to attacks from loose dogs, danger of the rubish left up their and people not knowing how to be safe around horse are going to be at as much risk as the horses. Costs of maintaing a safe environment (fixed fences, litter picks, water troughs etc) are again going to increase the amount needed to keep all Parties involved safe.... Just really don't know what is expected to be gained by having ponies up there. Who is going to make sure the gates are kept shut too! The list of negatives is simply to long to type x

The horses would be at risk from being attacked, dogs would not be walked freely and they may be dangerous to children.

It is important to note that the local horse community does not want wild ponies grazing the hills. In fact, apart from the council, I don't know of anyone who does.

Why put the horses at risk letting them graze freely they are an endangered breed according to a report seen recently? What's stopping them from being a target for yobs ! Also what about the risks to members of the public , dog walkers , fellow horse riders using the hills it's the most ridiculous ideas !!! Have the council got nothing else better to do like tackle anti social behaviour and improve areas that need improving !!!!

Do not think this is a suitable site for ponies as the amount of people that use the site and what goes on ie rubbish dumped ,people camping and setting fires and lots of kids gathering there to drink and party ,the holes that could break ponies legs it's just not safe and as a parent of a child that has to ride her horse past these ponies it's an accident going to happen

Ponies would be tormented by yobs, the historic stone walls would need heightened and secured. Changing our beautiful small peice of countryside. Dogwalkers and families could no longer enjoy the hills properly anymore. An absurd idea for for these beautiful animals who would be much better suited going to a remote countryside location not taking away the small precious green areas for the people of the busy built up towns surrounding cleadon hills!

This can not be controlled sensibly. And with already 275 horses on livery in the immediate area the idea of cleadon hills being exclusive to wild ponies is taking the opportunity for resident horses to be exercised withoutthe risk of traffic Iincidents out of their reach.

THERE WAS A MEETING ABOUT A YEAR AGO RE THIS WHEN IT WAS AGREED THAT THIS WAS STUPID IDEA AND ONE WHICH THE LADY FROM THE WESTMOORELAND PONIES ASS. WHO WAS AT THE MEETING TOTALLY AGREED.
SO WHY HAS IT BEEN DISCUSSED AGAIN AS NOTHING HAS CHANGED, ANDTHE YOBS STILL FREQUENT THE HILLS. AT THE LAST MEETING ALL THE HORSE OWNERS IN THE AREA STATED THAT THEY WOULDNT PUT THEIR HORSES ON THE HILLS FOR THE RISKS INVOLVED.
THIS IS ANOTHER STUPID IDEA AND WHICH IS TOTALLY OPPOSED BY ALL USES OF THESE HILLS INCLUDING DOG WALKERS.
NO-BODY WANTS HORSES ON THE HILLS...WHY DONT YOU LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH SHILEDS FOR ONCE AND ADHERE TO THEIR WISHES INSTEAD OF TRYING TO COME UP WITH THESE REDICULOUS IDEAS TRYING TO JUSTIFY YOUR POSTS WITHIN THE COUNCIL.

Petition handed in today! I went to a council meeting this morning to voice our concerns. The commitee appeared to be unaware of the strength of feeling against this proposal and intend to visit the site for themselves. Let's hope they can see that this is a very accessible site for both responsible people and sadly for those who cause trouble!

It appears the council is having a meeting tomorrow Tuesday 10am at the Town Hall to present the plans! There has been no notice of this! This petition will be handed in tomorrow in person so all our comments can be noted!

Will not work. Bad idea. Unfair to all,
