It appears the council is having a meeting tomorrow Tuesday 10am at the Town Hall to present the plans! There has been no notice of this! This petition will be handed in tomorrow in person so all our comments can be noted!

Cleadon hills is a place I regularly use to relax and walk my dog. I often think how lovely it is to see so many people enjoying the area, in particular families. People are encouraged to do more exercise and enjoy the great outdoors and yet this beautiful area, that is appreciated by so many, is soon to become off limits. Such a waste.

As regular users of Cleadon hills every day twice a day for the last fifteen years our family feel this is no place for wild animals to be left unattended. We feel this proposed course of action by the council is totally unsuitable for all parties involved especially the welfare of those poor ponies. Following a recent telephone conversation with a member of the council I am even more annoyed then ever after being informed they will be collating all responses then deciding in a meeting the proposed outcome. Where is the public meeting, not on their agenda shame on the council they need to be transparent we elect them to work on our behalf not to meet in private behind closed doors. Please listen to all the animal lovers of South Tyneside and regular users of this much loved place in our town please leave it as intended for everyone to enjoy it natural beauty and tranquil environment.

Cleadon hills is the perfect place to take my dogs as their is plenty of space for big dogs and little dogs. I find it easy to socilase on cleadin hills its a great walk with the lovely people who like to walk their dogs. without horses ramdomly coming along like you do have at the beach, meaning you have to put your dogs on leads.

Who will look after the ponies, pay their vet bills etc.

I think that allowing ponies on Cleadon Hills will be a mistake for the reasons stated and in addition the ponies will congregate to be fed which will churn up the earth close to the gates.I also think that the golf club members will kickoff when their games are interupted by the increased volume of dog owners using the right of way across the golf course.

I'd hate to see the ponies welfare be disgarded or even people stealing them once they're put on there. There'd be no more late summer walks up to the hill and back down and no dog will be safe at all even if the ponies are fenced in.

I am very concerned about the welfare of the ponies; and doubt very much that there is enough space to accommodate both ponies and the general public out for a walk.

Please leave cleadon hills as it is. Exmoor ponies roaming free are a hazard to pedestrians and dogs. This area is one of the few left in south tyneside where you can let your dog off the lead and know they will be safe.

If ponies are put onto cleadon hills where else in South Tyneside are you going to be able to safely let dogs run free off the leash? I am 100% against it and think it's an absolutely terrible idea.

We use Cleadon Hills all the time for walking our springer spaniel off the lead to allow him to play.
It would be a great shame if this beautiful area was taken out of use because of what seems an ill thought out idea

Who will protect them, at night when locals go driving there 4x4 up there you see tyre tracks churning up the grass from the night before.(area of the water tower only)
What if if children want to ride a pony who will protect them from being kicked or bitten if the pony runs away there are some nasty small cliffs they can fall over. what is the purpose of putting ponies up there its for the public to enjoy, ponies are inquisitive animals they will go up to people if the start feeding them they will expect to fed every-time they see people
Who will be responsible / accountable for them if anything happens don't forget I report three incidents where foxes were torn apart, by I assume dogs at night

Ponies on that area of land is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard. The ponies will be in danger as will dog walkers and children.

I will really concerned if the council bring grazing animals to Cleadon Hills, as the safety of the animals will be seriously at risk. This is due to levels of ASB in the area and broken bottles and empty jagged cans are often found by dog walkers, who dispose of them in the bins.
This is a very popular area for dog walkers and dogs will need to be kept on a lead, because of the grazing animals. This may mean that dog walkers stop using the area and who will pick up rubbish?

I have already emailed the council to advise them that they are putting the welfare of the Exmoor ponies in danger. I have seen men with crossbows and air rifles on the hill.
I also advised the council that it is the dog walkers [and not the council] who tidy up the broken glass; the broken drinks cans with sharp edges; and the general rubbish.
