Seems like this could be avoided if the big company tax avoiders were call to account

so when I am off on mat leave this will completely change how I pay myself that year. Obviously I won't be earning any money and I wasn't planning on asking for any stat mat pay but maybe I will need to reconsider as I will not be able to pay myself as much. Great work.

I'm getting more than fed up with this government targeting the small guys simply because they haven't got the courage to go after the big guys. Typical Tory cowardice

And to think I voted for the Tories. I just do not know how they expect us to save for our old age! Feel like spending every penny and they can look after me in my old age. What incentive is there for anyone to set up their own business nowadays unless of course it's Starbucks!

The suggestion of the re-thinking of dividend taxation is unbelievable and emphasises the uneducated belief that small business owners (who will be most affected by the changes) have deep pockets and can afford to pay the most. When this measure is combined with a considerable hike in minimum wage, it will be small businesses who fail reducing employment opportunities and lowering the overall tax contributions to the treasury. This measure must not be allowed to come to fruition!

Stop penalising hard working small businesses. The government should be dividing on large tax dodging companies such as Facebook , Starbucks etc who pay peanuts in taxes. And be fairer to us small companies. Abolish this new dividend tax.

For micro businesses this is big blow and done so quietly! Can I put my prices up by 7%? No. It's way above the inflation rate. Would you get away with adding 7% on to the basic tax rate for employed people? No.

The small business owners could be the main lifeline to the economy & unemployment. Don't punish them.

Pension revisions RTI New tax on dividends Increased regulatory requirements such as Office for National Statistics information collation & submission... My, you really hate the strivers. After being responsible for raising millions in taxes and employing & training significant numbers of staff, my response is this: Make employees redundant, liquidate the company and live off the state. How does that result work for you as a response to your 'encouragement' to be striver?

So I presume I now get holiday pay and sick pay like all my employed friends? If you want to tackle IR35 style disguised employment then tackle disguised employment don't punish genuine self-employed people who run their own businesses. If you were reading the budget and not watching it you wouldn't have believed it was delivered by a Conservative government. Tax simplification is becoming a complete joke. Scrap NIC, have the minimum wage as a tax free amount, 30% on everything else, maximum deductions of 25% of gross. Simples.

The government should be supporting small businesses with the potential to grow and employ more people. This tax increase means we will have to do more work ourselves just to stand still and severely hampers our plans for next year to invest time and money on employing extra staff and grow the business further. A smack in the face for all small business owners who voted conservative thinking they were the party that supports entrepreneurs and backed small businesses to build the economy.

This is a betrayal of all those small business people that were encouraged to save in their companies for their retirement only to see their hard earned money snatched by the taxman. Utter disgrace!
