I have missed so many lessons through this. The fact the university ignore teachers requests for fair pay and pensions is ridiculous. Students deserve compensation for lack of study time as well and stress caused through this.

Just not fair to have to pay so much money for education for the staff to strike due to working condition. Sort out the working conditions for them so we get the education we pay for… or the system will surely collapse imminently….

I've missed entire weeks of learning so it's not in any way fair for me or anyone else to pay the full amount.

I am in my third year at Sussex studying Politics and IR. These strikes have meant I’ve missed out on weeks of content. Most significantly, it has meant that I have been practically unable to contact my lecturers for help with my final essays! Strikes have been so frequent that my windows of communication with lecturers have been so small, and I often don’t know whether I’m going to get a reply. In effect, I feel i’m going into these final essays pretty much blind. I do not blame the lecturers for this- I appreciate their cause wholly, and in periods where they haven’t been striking they have been extremely helpful. However, I feel we deserve some kind of reimbursement - either monetary or IDEALLY a consideration of the impacts of these strikes in the marking process of our essays/ dissertations.

The strikes have caused immense stress for me, and even though we didn’t get any teaching or support we’re still asked to do essay questions on the topics that we missed.

Having 2 seminars for the whole of term and then only 1 question as an option for final assessment is a joke with no assistance WHAT so ever from tutors who can’t even do the bare minimum such as responding to emails to hosting their office hours clearly evidences that a no detriment policy needs to be in place. In total we have had 6 weeks of strikes this year which accounts for 1/4 of teaching if a no detriment isn’t put in place further action will be taken from the student body.

The twin difficulties of the epidemic and the strike have prevented me from completing my studies well. I had been doing distance learning this academic year and with the ongoing strike, I have learned very little of substance, which has caused my grades to drop a lot. I think it is necessary to reduce the tuition fees by half as the strike has been going on for a long time now since September 2021 and if this continues I think it is necessary to reduce the fees for the next academic year

Those with disabilities, complex needs and in need of extra help due to this were faced with extra hurdles and incomparably affected compared to those without, on top of the issues alone as it stands in absence of this.

There have been far more negatively impactful factors than the previous time the no detriment policy was introduced.
