Under this proposal, the unlucky students who must move will be separated from friends, required to wake up insanely early, tolerate a much longer bus ride and arrive at a school that will now be overcrowded, too. Exactly what benefit are these 125+ students getting out of this deal? CPS, please include us in the conversation and consider other alternatives that are less disruptive.

I agree with this petition. There has got to be a better solution than disrupting the lives of these kids yet again. More time is needed to study viable options..

We didn't move to south side of town for our kids to get bussed downtown for middle school! We moved to Southside b/c it's close to our offices and activities outside of school.

I don't want boundary changes as we moved to where we live for a reason & it's school district.
When I was a kid this happened to me and it was the worst time of my life... I don't want that for my kids...

I don't agree with this rushed approach. The timing is bad and CPS has not been forthcoming. I think CPS need to prepare themselves that this issue will not die. We will arm ourselves with attorneys and fight you, if you don't make a better approach and decision that is in the best interest of the children.

My son is already meeting the bus at 6:18 to travel to Gentry which is like 2 miles away. I don't want to even think of what time he'd have to catch the bus to go to Jeff, let alone what time he would have to wake up! Opposed.

We do not believe enough options and considerations have been made. More trailers for 6th grade at Gentry would not be a permanent solution but there is room on Gentry's property for more trailers. Jeff doesn't have the space for trailers.
