I support this petition. We timed our drive to Gentry (7 minutes) and then to Jeff (22 minutes) one way recently. The time of travel was while we have no MU students in town. Middle school students already head out on buses quite early to reach Gentry. The commute time alone would have a negative impact specifically on our daughter. We anticipate that her ability to participate in extra-curricular activities would decrease greatly, if not completely. There are simply not enough hours in the day to make this commute twice a day, ensure homework is completed, after school activities and make sure she gets the rest required. We respectfully ask the school district not require our family to drive past a middle school that is a much more reasonable distance.

It was a miserable, disruptive 2 years doing that drive to JJ when my son went there. Saving grace part was the school but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. At the least 45 mins RT usually over an hour especially with rush hour traffic. Dinner was delayed. Homework was delayed. Life interrupted 5 days a week. CPS is big on ' neighborhood school' mentality and this does NOT promote that philosophy. If it did we would not be building all these elementary schools everywhere.

I am not in support of any of your boundary relocation proposals for moving students from Gentry to Jeff. It had not been thought out and could hurt our property values more than anyone knows. I live in Thornbrook.

I DO NOT support Thornbrook moving to Jeff. This is one of the most ridiculous scenarios that cps has come up with. This town is WAY BEHIND in school planning compared to most cities that I've been in. CPS needs to get its act together!!
