The canal system is decaying at an alarming rate in the hands of the current management at C&RT. It must be time to move on with people that actually care about the future of our waterways!

Having been a resident in a CRT run Marina for 9 years now I can no longer stand by and watch our soaring mooring and licence fees being wasted by mismanagement and carelessness. Ridiculous charges paid to sub standard national contractors means our facilities are costing more but are deteriorating at a rate of knots. The blatant contravention of planning rules in marinas regarding residential status means that our community has been devastated by a them and us conflict. Add to that the fact that people being placed in some marinas can be considered troublesome at best and you may as well be living in any of the neighbourhoods where decency and eriquette have been totally eroded. Except, it costs you twice as much.
The lack of maintenance in the water and banks is destroying the system and is damaging the environment and the animals that live in it. I am ashamed to be associated with this excuse of a charity organisation that couldn’t find their behind with both hands.

Enough is enough. Years of excuses of why CRT pay a national contract to maintain facilities at a kings ransom, No maintenance of infrastructure or waterways. Corrupting mooring prices with their auction system. No understanding of boating, only a willingness to corner them for as much money as they can squeeze from us for no return. I've gone from an enthusiastic volunteer and supporter, to being in verdant opposition to all they represent and the methods they apply to achieve what amounts to a shambolic excuse of leadership.

Sickened that C&RT have got 'spare' money in the marketing budget to rebrand again (4 years ago was the last time) but on the other hand they're asking for donations and volunteers. This is going to cost millions, money that should not have been allocated to the marketing budget (so they say but they lie all the time) in the first place. They are already changing perfectly good signs, vans etc when they said it would be done in the next few years when needed. The state of the canals, locks, bridges, facilities and towpaths are shocking, but that doesn't seem to matter to them. The accountant who decided where our money gets spent needs sacking! You're a discrace C&RT

They are getting worse and worse. Bad repairs that are nothing short of bodges that have to be repeated year after year without anyone doing a 'proper job in the first place to ensure a further 20 years of use. This rebranding is a slap in the face. A total waste of money due to the design being awful. Many canals country wide being way below minimum depth and is the ANY matinance going on in this regard?! Paying contractors to trim mud in winter but when spring hits where are They?! No where to be seen whilst toward become over run. The sheer amour of money being wasted paying the fat cats and all the other admin monkeys. Pulling people out of the field and increasing staff in the offices... let alone a lack of transparency. Having to do contants foi requests for something as simple as a real P&L sheet for the year. CANAL AND RIVER TRUST ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!

British Waterways were much better at maintaining the waterways. Seems to me CRT are focused on revenue.

Given the evidence does not lie and by the comments here, then clearly beyond reasonable doubt the management us not fit for purpose and a vote of 'no confidence ' needs to be brought in a class action against these 'Trustees' to remove them from office asap instead of allowing them to ride and abuse the gravy train.

It is apparent that CRT is spending less and less money on maintaining the canal for the use of boaters and spending so much more on attracting the general public and encouraging the use of our towpaths as cycleways.
The final straw is spending money on rebranding, the knock on effect of which is replacing signs that still have a long ‘shelf life’. And do we really need 3 banners advertising a one day event at Walsall lock 5?
The following need to be where money is spent
Maintenance of locks
Dredging
Maintenance of Armco
Unsafe bridges
Rubbish disposal
Recycling facilities

No point in fiddling whilst Rome burns. We need a complete 'regime change' now. We need a management that is top to bottom "boater friendly . A management that costs a fraction of the £6 million it costs now and acts in boaters' interests first. We certainly havent got that now. That would be my "Luxury" if I was on Desert Island Disks

I have lived on a boat now for three years. The condition of the canals, banks and mooring rings are a disgrace, as are the pump out and water facilities. The licence money is a substantial part of the CRT income, yet we water dwellers are treated like scum.
It’s fantastic that they’ve got a new logo though!

CRT have let us down time after time. Completely unreasonable - if you break down and can't move, don't count on them for understanding your predicament. You can count on them to continually harass you though, telling you to move and threatening your next licence renewal, despite your frequent updates on work progress, evidence for
