Both disenfranchisement and unfair practices seem to be prevalent in the practices of this public leader which is inappropriate. I am a resident of Brooklyn Connecticut and have two children within the elementary and middle schools. When there are no justifications made for drastic changes being made, it becomes questionable behavior to which parents do not understand and therefore creates a chaotic environment.

I am a parent of a student who is entering the first grade at BES, as well as a student who is entering the eighth grade at BMS. I live in Brooklyn Connecticut. I feel these types of decisions are detrimental to the students, especially those who are very young and impressionable such as my son. He has already met his teacher and would be upset to learn that the teacher could possibly be different.

It just came to my attention that the Board Chair is involved in some shady real estate business dealings. She has been named in a lawsuit that hints of fraud. The need for change becomes more apparent daily if not hourly. Do the residents of Brooklyn want dishonesty from educational leaders any longer??? To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The principal is a whole other story. There should be a petition for her as well. Deer in the headlights most of the time. Clueless to the needs of the kids or the community, but boy can she give a power point demonstration!! A true lackey for the superintendent. This, however is just the type that fits the mold for the superintendent. Weak, compliant, and easily led. All of those are key components for who is hired as an administrator. If you stand on your own, make fact based decisions that are in the best interests of the school and students, and support your staff, your days are numbered in Brooklyn. The superintendent will not release the results of the school climate survey. It would show the disdain that is felt by the staff toward the principal. In a faculty meeting this year, trying to be a sympathetic figure, the principal actually asked the staff how they would feel being perceived as useless every day. Well if the shoe fits, wear it. If you did your job, you wouldn't have to worry about it. The comment about not having people skills hits the nail on the head. It should be noted though, that if all of this hard work goes for naught, and the superintendent comes out smelling like a rose, there will be hell to pay for staff, students and the community. Her unrelenting wrath will be felt. This is a formidable foe with long reaching connections. Unfortunately, she uses those connections for revenge, The board chair says that they are looking into staff morale. In the Elementary building there is no morale. Yet NOW the board chair perceives that there is a morale issue???? She blames disgruntled teachers for this petition. By what I read here it appears that disgruntled teachers are the least of her worries. There is a 3 person cabal that makes sure that the superintendent is shielded from any and all criticism. 2 LONG time board members and the superintendent make up the trio. The cabal needs to be broken up. Too many things have been hidden for too long. Th

I think we need to also look at Mrs king. I have had many issues with her over the last three years. Including last year when. My daughter was stressed out due to a teacher yelling all day and mrs. Kings solution was to tell me to go have my child medicated . she continued to ask me what I wanted her to do about it. She has no peoe skills and does not run this school effectively!

Why is there an atrocious turnover of principals and Special Ed Directors?
Why is there an 87 year old part time school psychologist that only comes in to test children?
Why is there not a full time school psychologist? (the answer will astound you, ask for the TRUTH)
Why are teachers afraid to speak out?
Why is the principal in thew Elementary building who has received BLISTERING results on the school surveys still there?

The current Superintendent has failed to move in the best interest of both my children on numerous occasions. Her actions and the response of the administration were so egregious, that I actually removed my eldest child from the system. It is really too bad the school system and board of education have been historically incompetent and caused many children to go without the help they desperately need. I genuinely hope things improve for future students of the Brooklyn School System. This is certainly a step in the right direction.

The Bulletin article simply exemplifies what others have said. The lies in the article are blatant and bold. The principal and the superintendent use administrative prerogative as a weapon rather than a tool. They have no clue about who is best in what grade. If you cross them you are in deep trouble. I'm sure that the superintendent and chairman of the BOE have documented all of the signatures on the petition for later use. It's not what's best for the school or the children. It's what's best for them. The meeting to be held will be an academy award performance for the superintendent. She'll pull out all the stops and make herself look like a paragon of education. Don't buy her "SPIN" it's lethal.
