I strongly believe the people of Plain have a right to know the plans for the property and taxpayer liabilities for operations and maintenance, prior to the school district selling the property. The people of Plain must know the specifics and have the opportunity to decide if this is appropriate for our small community. Also, remember the promise: this was promised to be a ball field for the kids.

Please keep our community quiet, rural, and pristine.

We support and are so grateful to our firefighters for all the amazing work they do. Thank you. However, purchase and development of the school site as outlined in this website does not seem like the best use of a precious, centrally located site in the middle of residential Plain. We hope that with open discussion, some "better options" can be developed jointly among this caring and civic minded community!

Communicate the plans. Let your people know what’s going on....it’s super easy these days.

Robin - At this time the property is NOT for sale to anyone. The Fire District has asked Cascade School District if they are willing to sell. The School District will take up discussion of the sale at their board meeting in late June. The School District Superintendent has indicated that if there is any sale, it would be only to the Fire District. No sale for any private or commercial development of the land is being considered. It is relatively simple for one government agency to sell to another government agency. No public vote is needed. The Fire District is either unable or unwilling to let the community know what they intend to do with 5+ acres in a residential area and how much it will cost the Plain community in the long run to maintain and operate whatever is built there. Until they can be more forthcoming, we are simply asking the School District to hold off on any sale decision. If a sale goes through before that, there is little any of us can do to stop the Fire District from proceeding with their plans.

We are buying a house on Beaver Valley Road near the fire dept. is the property only for sale to the fire dept. I'm guessing it would have to go to auction. This would open the sale to private parties

Concerned that this is the first I am hearing of the possible uses of the land if sold to LWFD.

We are long time supporters of the Plain community and active members of the Fire Wise committee. We support efforts to expand the current fire station on the existing property to meet the needs for maintenance of equipment. We support funds to train our voluntary fire fighters using existing state level training facilities in Wenatchee. We support efforts by our fire district to plan for impending wildfire response, aligning with state agencies and their resources. Efforts to encourage the state to purchase available property near the intersection of Highway 2 and 207 should be made as it offers central location of access and helicopter usage. We support the Cascade School District retaining the existing land for future expansion of the Beaver Valley School. With the internet availability, and the growth pressures on the west side of the Cascades, young families are moving and will continue to move into our area. It would be short sighted to not plan for this growth by retaining the property. We support efforts to plan for expansion of the fire district needs to follow the approach patterns they have used in the past... 1) communicate ideas/plans to community...ask for voter input and support. 2) Proceed, once the voters have decided on the direction of any plans. We support the fire department but live fire burning is a health risk and hazard not only to our neighborhood but also the school and environment. We're asking for full disclosure of the intended use of this land and to understand what the other options are.

I appreciate the fire department and have enjoyed having them as neighbors but they already have unused acreage on which to expand. They have not explained why they need an additional five acres and have refused to share their plans with us. The school, the neighborhood and the community deserve to be fully informed before any decision is made.

Delay decision to sell until intended use/purpose and planned future development is explained to the community.
