Fire Center In Plain Neighborhood?

We support the LWFD and it's firefighters as well as the local residents who will be affected by this proposed sale. Requesting transparency from our public institutions should not be a controversial position. This petition is only requesting time for the residents of Plain to be fully informed on the potential uses of this land and determine what is best for the whole community. We urge the Cascade School Board to take a wait and see approach in regards to the sale of the land so that the needs of both groups and be addressed to make the best decision possible for the people of Plain.

This isn’t about not supporting our local fire dept, we all respect and are grateful for them and what they do. This is about finding an appropriate place for a complex such as what is being proposed. Can we all put ourselves in each others shoes and ask how would I feel if this was in my immediate neighborhood? Is this the best use for that land? Thank you for your consideration.

Juan there are no specific building plans on lwfr.org. Why are you lying? Why are you still crying over spilled milk from when you were 10? You seem like an emotionally unstable person. I hope you get the help that you need.

Juan if you have something to add to the conversation we are all waiting to hear it. Otherwise it seems like you're the one who knows the least of all and would serve your agenda better in silence.

I encourage everyone to read this comment thoroughly. More than once. Think about the mindset of the person who wrote it. Their intellect. Their maturity. Now, is this the kind of person whose leadership you wish to follow? The kind of person who you want involved in a multi-million dollar building project that YOUR tax dollars will be responsible for? Do you think this person makes good life choices? It's weird, maybe it's a Florida thing, but all the firefighters I've known have been courageous individuals who boldly face challenges head on, not the kind of people who hide behind fake names and snarky comments on the internet. Sad!

I have a number of issues with the proposed sale of this land to the FD. For the sake of brevity I will only elaborate on the one that hasn't been mentioned yet; the lack of transparency on behalf of the Fire Department regarding their actual plans for using this land makes it evident to me that the needs of the community are not their highest concern. In a conversation with a salaried representative of LWFR that took place at station 93 on November 25th 2017, it was indicated to me that the FD doesn't care about having a negative impact on property values in the area because the people at the FD have been living out here their whole lives and the newcomers to the area have driven property taxes up over the past decade, so the FD doesn't care if their actions drive our property value down because it will lower their personal property taxes. I don't think personal finances should be part of this decision making process for members of the FD or the CSD. Considering the obvious negative impact to the community (remember, chief Lamar said he wouldn't want this going in his neighborhood) I think it is an important question to ask "who is this helping and how?"

I like so many feel the work and support from and for our fire fighters is critical. We are grateful to have them. At the same time, I am not in support of this usage of that land regarding its impact to our community. Thanks!

Some of the colorful comments being made on this petition site by persons possibly using fictitious names have indicated that our position is that we do not want a new fire station in Plain. This is incorrect. We support a new station, and have proposed a design for LWFR's consideration. In our meetings in December with LWFR leadership, we suggested a compromise that would build a new station on the existing Plain property. LWFR had no reaction to this suggested compromise. This proposed station is based on a design that has been built by the town of Carver, Massachusetts. It seems to address a majority of the needs that the FD has told us about. I’m appalled at this! I can’t believe that the Department of Fire would think of doing such a thing! I mean there’s a fire station in Leavenworth isn’t that good enough?!?! As tax payers we paid millions of dollars for these fire vehicles and now they think they deserve a place to park them!?! redick!!! I guess maybe a carport for a ladder engine would make sense but an entire station! RIDICULES!!! I just wish they would build it next to the poor people... we’ve worked hard our entire lives in King County to make OUR money to buy OUR second houses and we deserve to have OUR retirement and vacations in this community the way we want it!!!!

Don, you’re comment about the fire district unwilling to let the public know what they are going to do is false. You yourself were at the public meeting last year, you’ve had private meetings with the district as well as done a public records request. You know ALL the facts yet you continue to spread fear and Lies. What a shame you live in such a great community

The department has stated that No live fire training will take place. You need to do more research on the issue rather than spreading fear of something
