This would be a major change if we did not have breaks. How can we handle our own mental health without any self-care, without breaks when working, going to school, and an internship, and an extra practicum course? How can we be successful therapists if we can't even get through the program? This goes against the school's culture of whole-person education!

These short breaks are what we need to recharge. Not only students, but faculty, also. Burn out is a real concern.

I signed up for the program expecting the existing schedule and would appreciate being able to stick to it for my degree program.

The majority of MAC students are also working professionals with a full time job, and even if we don't work, we have family and life duties, is one week break is too much to ask? How can we be mental health therapists in the future if we can prioritize our mental wellbeing and allow time off?

Homeostasis in mental health is sustained only when a student's personal life and family are taken care well enough to be aligned with the requirements in school and work. Especially the holidays are full of family-focused activities.

Please keep the 1 week breaks. This program is intense and those breaks keep me going!

Training future mental health professionals while stripping away the basic human need for rest, breaks, and time for wellness is contradictory and deeply concerning. How can a program claim to promote “wellness” while denying students the very conditions that make it possible?

I'm fully on board with this petition. Those weekly breaks are essential for protecting our mental well-being, visiting loved ones during the holidays, and balancing our packed schedules with work, trips, and everything else we organize our days around. We committed to this program, expecting to utilize the existing calendar, and these breaks prevent burnout due to the demanding schedule.

These breaks are necessary mentally and as a Psychhology program, I am confused that this is not be considered.

Please reconsider keeping the breaks. As students training to become mental health clinicians, our own mental health deserves the same care and attention that we will provide to our clients.

I wholeheartedly agree with this petition and would urge decision-makers in the MAC program not to eliminate these very necessary breaks. As so many others have shared, they are vital to providing students with a sustainable course of study and much-needed time to recharge and focus on other essential parts of our lives.

The coursework on the accelerated program of 4 weeks without breathers is the program but does not allow for any other life things to happen.

I fully agree with this petition. These breaks are for our mental health, family time and interactions. These breaks are also worked around the family, career, vacation, and more. Honestly, I feel that even more break time would be beneficial to students. We agreed with the current academic schedule prior to us committing to this program and school.

This program is set in a very specific order. If we miss a SINGLE class, we will have to take a 6-month detour in our education, pushing back practicum and/or graduation because the sequence of classes has been interrupted. We need a break once in a while, and we do not have the option to simply take a month off if we need it in the middle without upending all out plans. This is a short-sighted decision that doesn't give any weight to the pressures and plights of working students who may be unable to continue with this program if a change to the schedule is finalized.

I would like to keep breaks factored into the academic schedule for rest and time spent with family.

The idea of those breaks being taken away blows my mind, those have been critical to my time at National as well as to my wellbeing.
