No Change to Solid Waste disposal Putnam County Ga

As one on a fixed income this is a terrible idea. I pay CountyTaxes and I expect to have the recycling center to be part of those taxes. Someone’s idea of this is a bad thing not only for us on a fixed income but also those of us who can’t get bins to the road.

We use the dumpster on Scott Road every day it is open! A house hold of 6 .

Just read about this on Lake Oconee NextDoor Neighbors. I hope Putnam Co will consider keeping these centers open. There are many like us whose homes are 1/4 mile or more from the road and closing the centers would present a hardship in hauling trash cans to the main road for pickup. In fact, we're not physically able to haul heavy trash cans 1/4 mile on an uphill gravel road. Currently, we're able to just load the trash bags in our trunk and drop them off. In addition, our travel schedules will not allow us to leave the cans by the road on the day before pickup.

I live full time in Putnam County and am perfectly happy with hauling my garbage to the dump. Please don't change anything. If the issue is funds, perhaps you can close the dump another weekday along with Tuesday. Or up our taxes by a couple bucks per person a year.

Curbside pickup brings more trash to our roads. I've driven behind the ones who pickup in Houston County and they make a mess. Those who are weekenders like to dump our garbage at the center on our way out. Having dumpsters on the road for a week with no one there to move them is a hazard to drivers.

No curbside service. Keep convenience centers.

Cans at every mailbox 24/7 and neighborhood dogs spreading trash up and down the road, no thanks!

Nothing is broken, therefore, nothing to fix. Leave our system as it is.

We used the curbside pick-up service from Advanced Disposal for almost one year. They missed most pick-up dates, never fully emptied the can, used our neighbor’s driveway to turn around, and raised the cost without any notice. We fired them. Closing the convenience centers and forcing property owners to use this service is a terrible idea. Residents, both full and part-time, will leave their cans at the road for days on end. A large trash truck stopping at each driveway along some of our narrow, hilly, winding roads, will cause accidents. We have a paved drive, but residents that have gravel drives on hilly sections of the lake will never be able to haul the large trash bins to the road. Georgia’s own Bert Lance once said “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That's the trouble with government: Fixing things that aren't broken and not fixing things that are broken." I think this applies in this situation. I was planning on attending the Friday meeting, but I’m currently snowed in along the I 95 corridor. Please learn from Baldwin County’s mistake, and don’t change the current system. We own three homes in Putnam County, we pay taxes on them all, and we vote.

I won't be able to use a curbside service since I'm typically not at my Putnam County property during the week. Carrying my garbage and yard debris to the convenience center is my only true option for my Putnam County property. Curbside would cost me charges for services I wouldn't be able to use and without the centers I don't have an option.

We need to keep those locations open.

This is not a good idea. Strongly opposed. Wish I could express my opinion at the meeting, but it is conveniently scheduled for 9am on a workday.... No thanks! And what about recycling?? I guess I'll have to pay even more for this service...or drive to another drop off location. Makes no sense.
