We shouldn’t change just to be trendsetters. Not enough thought for the elementary impact was considered. I don’t want my kindergartener getting off the bus in the dark. The push creates the longest academic block for elementary AFTER lunch. They are not their best then. All teachers will say kids are fried by 2pm.

I am absolutely opposed to the time change. I think this town will have many residents leave if they follow through with it. This is not a feasible option for many of the families here.

I love at 24 Whitman Dr Granby, CT and do not support the start time change proposed by Granby BOE.

As a mother if 3 children in this district, I strongly oppose this unnecessary change for my children. The financial burden along with stress and anxiety of dealing with this unnecessary change is too much for families to have to worry about for a very small advantage to only 4 grades. Up-ending an entire school system for a 1-4% increase is absolutely unfair and irresponsible to do to the tax payers in this town.

As a working parent who relies on her high schooler to care for younger sibling after school, but am able to get my child on the bus and be on time to work in the morning, both changes would have a negative impact on our family. Granby is not equipped with enough facilities to provide families with affordable options for before and/or after school care.

The idea has merit, but needs further research and refinement, and at the moment, is before its time. I support no change to the current schedule.

Making a change of this impact and magnitude is not feasible without also making significant societal and cultural adjustments. Unless working shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are adjusted and companies decide to change their "core hours" - traditionally 9 to 3 - this is going to create unnecessary burden and stress (mental and financial) on the families in this town. Absolutely opposed.

This affects working parents with kids in intermediate schools poorly. Please consider doing what West Hartford did and move academics in the high school to 10:00.
