Take the pledge and disengage from celebrities and corporations (online and offline) for the entire month of September. Instead, pledge to use engagement typically reserved to speak about celebrities on funding the survival of marginalized Black folk. We also want to promote independent Black artists.

We'll center community and community in the arts to help marginalized Black folk create steady streams of income for survival, even if only for a month.

Not passing universal single-payer healthcare when World Health Organization announced the pandemic is one of the greatest acts of violence the administration has committed in a generation. Biden ran on empathy, then evicted millions of people during this pandemic. What does all this mean for impoverished Black communities? Black suffering can not bend in a world of white supremacist culture, predatory consumption, extraction and violation, so how do poor Black people survive NOW?

We can start by eliminating our confidence in celebrities and influencers, capitalism and corporate globalization altogether.

REMEMBER THE IMPORTANT PART IS TO DISENGAGE FROM CELEBRITIES AND BIG BRANDS ONLINE FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER

But here are some other ways you should also uphold the pledge:

1. Use your montly entertainment budget to donate to Black survival funds and to pay for content made by independent Black artists

2. Refrain from discourse surrounding celebrities and big brands online and offline. This includes any mention or interaction with them whatsoever. Discuss Black survival funds and independent Black artist instead

3. Buy from small businesses as much as you can in the month of September.
