Please do not do this. Be careful. We are all already being walloped by inflation. You are going to price families and others out of visiting Catalina. Many have been vacationing in Avalon for generations. Let’s find a another way to make up any needed monies. Respectfully, Susan and Bill Scheding, owners of a Sumner cottage for over 25 years.
Please! No more taxes for people who keep this island going! Without Tourism we will collapse as an amazing family vacation spot. Shops and tourist related activities will close, putting many people out of work. Vacation rentals may become a thing of the past. Please allow Catalina to remain a wonderful vacation paradise. I own Hamilton Cove Unit 2-30 and live in the Mammoth Lakes area which has a TBID different than what's proposed. Our Mammoth Lakes TBID works because its different than LOVE Catalina's proposal. The proposal as structured here needs to be revised. In fact, I'd rather see an increase of TOT by 1% with money going to the City of Avalon to provide City services rather than this proposal of TBID as structured.
