Terrible idea...we all ready pay enough in taxes in this state, which is ranked one of the worst to do business in, for property taxes and to retire.

Fuel is expensive enough as it is! As a young person trying to make a living in Vermont I am seriously opposed to this as SO much of my income already goes to taxes. PLEASE don't impose this tax which would make me more likely to leave the state to live elsewhere. I love it here but hate the taxes! NO CARBON TAX!

I strongly oppose this tax. This is a very rural state with little public transportation. Both my husband and I have to drive to our jobs. Heating homes with fuel is a must for many Vermonters. We can not continue to pay more in taxes.

As if Montpelier doesn't tax us enough already. What really needs to happen is for those legislators who conjure up these hair-brained schemes to be voted out and replaced by clear-thinking people with some common sense.

Vermonters are struggling now to keep warm. Heat is a need. Most Vermonters are living on a fixed income. Vermont is one of the most expensive states to live during winter months. Representatives, who are you? You owe us!

Alternative heating options are just not feasible for every day Vermonters who are struggling to keep up with heating costs as it is. Imposing a tax on the fuel we require to survive the cold winters will only make winter more unaffordable for the most vulnerable Vermonters.

I live on the VT - NH border and drive to NH every day to work. This will be a big increase for NH's gasoline dealers.

While reducing consumption of fossil fuels is a worthwhile goal increasing the average homeowner's annual budget by hundreds, if not thousands of dollars is a regressive and punitive way to accomplish this.

As next to the lowest population state Vermont has the least resources to be initiating a carbon tax to limit carbon based fuel usage. Vermont is the lowest consumer. Vermont's implementation will have no impact on global warming. Let the largest consumers go first. Vermonters can't afford Blittersdorf's plan for getting rich. Let him go to NY or MA to get richer. If billboards are objectionable why would Vermonters want the ridgelines littered with windmills? The beauty of Vermont that attracts so many tourists would be raped and pillaged for Blitt's profit. Politicians who are likewise profiting ought to be ashamed for their treason of the public they are to be serving. Those not profiting should likewise be ashamed for their lack of foresight.
