Too much "stick," not enough carrot. What about incentivizing lower use, rather than punishing ANY and ALL use? This is like the "soda tax," only you're coming after a life-support necessity, rather than a life-style choice!

Do not fool yourselves into thinking yet another tax on the backs of the citizens of Vermont will magically lead to the reduction of carbon emissions. You will serve only to create more hardship FOR THOSE OF US WHO GET UP AND GO TO WORK EVERY DAY TO FISCALLY SUPPORT FOOLISHNESS SUCH AS THIS!

Please, this tax is inappropriate for Vermonters. We are a rural state and must travel everywhere and winters are long here. Our family is already doing all we can to conserve. Please do not do this to us all.

This is a bad idea. We are taxed very highly already in Vermont and gas is already very expensive relative to other places in the US. Although I am actively doing what I can to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, I think this tax is a bad idea.

I don't know how you think Vermonters can afford to live should you add yet another tax to things necessary for surviving. With an a $1/gal tax on things such as heating oil, prepare to adjust your by deducting this new tax from the amount you'll be paying out in residents seeking state heating assistance.

It is one thing to launch a conservation campaign but it is another to put people in a position where they can't afford to heat their homes or get to work. Many Vermonters heat their homes with oil and cannot afford to convert to another form of heating. This includes many elderly people and those on fixed incomes. Do we really want to create a situation where people are not able to stay warm in the winter?
