Will this affect James Island schools?

please think about our children. They need to be kids too and have a life outside of school. Their bedtimes would be earlier and morning days would literally be filled with constant disipline! It's not fair to parents of the children!

I agree it's too early for my 5 year old.

This defies all logic. Daycare costs will increase for parents of young children, and high schoolers have jobs and sports practices/competitions that this will interfere with! Ridiculous.

My daughter is 7. I think it is completely unreasonable to expect kids to get up that early.

My Special needs child has therapies that begin right after school and end at 8:00 every day. Then she has dinner and gets to bed at 10:00. She is too young and too overburdened to start school at &:00

I am one of those parents who has a younger child as well. I should not have to wake him up early because the schools want to start earlier. It also doesnt seem right to make my kids go to sleep at 6 PM in order to accomodate for the change in schedule. It is still daylight out and my kids are usually playing outside at 6 PM.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. How can they expect small children to wake up that early?? How can a 5 year old function when they are being made to wake up so early for school?

The bottom line is that no school in CCSD should start before 7:30 am or after 8:30 am. The district needs to find a way to have all schools start between this window of time and if that means more money for more busses, then so be it.

Medically fragile child- can not be at school earlier than she is already. On dialysis 12 hours at night. I also work in the school district, this will adversely Impact my 3 children's lives as well as my ability to get them to and from school.

How do you justify disrupting sleep patterns and cutting back on family time with families with young children?

The current bell schedule is fine. Why change it? It will cause many issues with our children's sleep and their performance throughout the day.
