No to the B&B/campgrounds in Shawneeland, potentially reaching to Wilde Acres/Mountain Falls.
Should the family want to do something productive for themselves, buy land away from a lived in community and do as such. All other private commercial busienssses like this are stand alone, reclusive, and far from heavy lived-in residential- the main goal of “getaway’s.”

This is a residential area. The roads are insafe as it is. We do not need more traffic, especially from people that are unfamiliar with the area.

This is a simple decision. Absolutely not. What a horrible idea for the Smiths to send out that letter. Facts are hard things to argue with. The letter not only contradicts what is stated in their application, but it contradicts itself. But that’s not the worst part. The worst part will come out on Wednesday night. I encourage everyone who signed this petition to reach out to Tyler Klein who works for the Frederick County board ([email protected]). He is compiling emails against this endeavor and will present them all to the applicants and to the board. We have to fight for the reason we bought homes and land in Shawneeland in the first place. Please come to our Shawneeland meeting at the Shawneeland offices at 7:00 on April 2nd AND to the Planning Committee meeting at 7:00 on April 3rd at the Frederick County Administration Building. Together we will speak as one voice in opposition to Shawneeland subsidizing this business’s financial gain through use of our already-hard-to-maintain roads, our amenities, and the sacrifice of our community’s peace and quiet.

Absolutely against this entire proposal. It appears the buyer/potential builder of this project has already displayed poor judgement and suspect behavior by providing misleading facts about their intent for this property as noted by the extreme discrepancies of the permit versus posted flyer that has been so called discussed with the current residents (which I can confirm was not discussed with at least 4-5 of us at the very top and far end of the mountain). This alone is cause for concern. Let along the reason most of us moved here was for the serenity and tranquility, plus a desire to see wildlife in their natural habitat. My husband and I already deal with enough mischievous behavior of others (to include some neighbors who think they are entitled to go wherever they want on the mountain) who are disrespectful and trespass on our property and the private property of others. Allowing something like this to occur will further exacerbate this problem. Furthermore the heavy traffic it would bring and increased risk of fires would surely add to the displeasure of our residents.

Not in favor of allowing this property to be built as proposed in the permit. Much discussion needs to occur prior to approval from the County. If this was for private family and friends there is no need for application of campsites, bunkhouses, or shower houses. Build it but with your own private road outside of Shawneeland borders.

We have enough traffic on our roads already without adding more. Plus a lot of children walk these roads .
