Minnesota medical professionals urge MMA to remain opposed to assisted suicide

Suicide is suicide, assisted or not

Please do not consider this slippery slope toward physician assisted suicide. We need medical professionals to demonstrate the highest degree of care, compassion and integrity always. Remaining "neutral" would in fact, be a vote for pro-assist camps. Please continue to lead with sound principles against this moral atrocity.

Let us comfort the sick and suffering with our willing presence and concern.

Let us assist life always, not unnatural death.

Please do not allow physician assisted suicide in Minnesota. Physicians should not be killing people. We should be focusing on relieving suffering and helping patients cope with the challenges of life.

As an occupational therapist, I help my clients participate meaningfully in their lives, regardless of their diagnosis or physical/cognitive ability. Assisting in ending life would communicate that life lacks meaning, which is completely contradictory to my personal and professional beliefs.

I love medicine because I enjoy educating, treating, and medically helping patients to make decisions that promote their health.....physician assistant suicide threats the entire medical profession.. All my patients deserve the best medical care regardless of who they are.... the need for physician assisted suicide reflections a failure of our society, families, and medical providers to care for those most vulnerable....

I am opposed to physician assisted suicide.

It cannot be a neutral position. My oath (Hippocratic) back years ago opposed this behavior.

I will never support assisted suicide. It is definitely not a neutral issue. I am deeply saddened that the MMA would even consider this shift in their position.

As a hospice RN Case Manager, I strongly oppose assisted suicide. It is a sacred privilege to walk with my patients as they journey from this life to the next. We have the tools and medications readily available to ensure comfort during the dying process. Assisted suicide isn't just immoral, it's bad medicine.

Patients need to safe guarded from all that would assist in ending their lives.
