no to the proposed increase in rates by Singleton Council there are too many people struggling in this area already !

this rise will take my families rates to over than $1000 more than we are currently paying per year... it is far more than inflation and is extremely hard to justify given current services offered my singleton council.... and to know this rise will not improve or see new services for the area.... and will only put financial pressure on families and small businesses in the area already feeling the pinch with the current downturn!

Do you not understand that we are not all from a mining family? That we don't all earn the same income? That some of us travel to get to work using half our wage because there are no jobs in this town. We choose to live here because of the community, because of the atmosphere but rate rises will cause families to leave, singleton will turn into a ghost town because of your selfishness. Think of others, put yourself into other people's shoes for a day and see how they have it tough.

This is ileageal tax .all taxes by law must go into consolidated revinue. Not to do this is breach of section 80 of Commonwealth act.regardless if its service or fee its still a tax

This Council uses its rate payers as a bank. Discusting.

We have just had a large increase in our rates is it fair to hit us again.Pensioners are finding it hard to keep coming up with the money to fund council. What about the $11 million that was mentioned on the news

There cannot be justification for this increase in rates when the price of houses has fallen dramatically in this area!!!

This is an unjustifiable way of filling councils pockets at the rate payers expense.

9.75%?! That's over 6 times the current inflation rate.... How do you seriously justify that?! Maybe the council could sell some of those lights down the Main Street back to France...

This is ridiculous pensioners are struggling now. There will be no money for house maintenance now

If Council stopped spending money on stuff this town that we does not need (like the ridiculous amount spent on main st) and spend wisely on things we do need then the percentage wouldn't have to be so high.. From one unhappy Singeton Resident

I understand this is spread over several years but as a council we receive more $$ from local industries than any other town I have lived and their rates are cheaper.
