I am petitioning the State of NJ to delay the implementation of Fee-for-Service, for the community mental health system. It is imperative that NJ reconsider some of the proposed rates, and ultimately to keep the State's investment and involvement in the community mental health system. It is imperative that the State not only delay the implementation of Fee-for-Service, but also keep their investment and involvement in the community mental health system in order to avoid holes in the safety net that supports many individuals who receive mental health services in the community. Otherwise, providers will be expected to pick up the outstanding balances resulting from insufficient repayment rates, and patients without Medicaid will likely have a harder time finding sufficient mental health care and individuals and families will suffer.

I feel That the Fee for Service model is a great disservice to the consumers that we serve. The consumers in my program depend on us to assist them with their medical and psychosocial needs. This will be greatly limited. Please consider the well being of our mental health consumers!

The fee for service model did not consider the support around the service i.e. front desk staff, registration, Access Center, Billing Office and Administration. There needs to be some type of reimbursement from that State for these indirect services. These all allow a client to access care quickly.

Our mental health consumers will be at a loss without the support they receive from the organization as 90 percent of them do not have any family members and depends on us as their support. Their voices need to be heard. Fee for service is a means to a end to our consumers.

My daughter has a mental illness and its hard enough to get the proper help she needs becaude funds have been cut and changes have been made. We don't need any more changes. This is why people grow up and go shooting up schools and everything else!!

Many in the community are already protesting the barriers to treatment and impact this has--for example, increased suicide rates, and vets unable to get treatment for PTSD. Does it make sense to make it harder for people to get treatment?

Although we are not caught in the fee for service crunch, our clients, many of whom utilize the services of other agencies, will be greatly affected. Services like psychiatric appointments, medication management and day treatment programs may all be affected in a negative way and services not available for those who need it most. This will cost the state and the federal government a lot more when inpatient psychiatric visits increase!
