Shannon, Thank you. Yes, I do not know any person that does not agree that the system needs to change. I tend to think of it this way. If the custodial parent suddenly got up and just left the home.....what would happen to the children? The non-custodial parent gets up, leaves and gives no care or responsiblity. It is then near impossible to get them to help. Why do so many non custodial parents do this?

Yes, I can see how frustrated would be a understatement Jennifer. I am not sure of the laws from state to state. What would be your suggestions to our NJ government to make the system better?

I am sorry Melissa. Does dad see his kids at all? I understand that he is on food stamps. Is this because he has not been able to work? Is that why he has not filed taxes?

Sid, Quite frankly, it doesn't help a parent to work. It is for parents that just don't think they should pay support. It is one of the few things NJ can do. It is not a great solution, but it is all they got. Unfortunately, our system has little enforcement that they can do to recoup arrears and child support. Currently, the following can be used as enforcement methods: -loss of license -loss of professional license - garnishment of wages -recoup through taxes or lottery winnings - suspension of passport -credit bureau reporting -enforecment hearing and possible bench warrant - imprisonment None of them are great.....but, right now it is the only consequences NJ can do. IF you have better suggestions, a new way to revamp the child support system or a idea....PLEASE let us know......

i fight with my probation worker every 2 weeks to enforce court order and never happens. Meanwhile my kids suffer and go without while their father goes on vacation with the new wife. I set up my child support account with probation so I would have enforcement when needed but that is not the case here. You have to fight with child support to fight for child support. Where is the justice in that?

How does taking the driver's license help the parent pay the child support?
