My kids father owes 47 thousand dollars in arrears. He collects food stamps and does not help feed or support his children. He has not filed for taxes for many years, and if he did get a refund his children have not received a dime from that and it has not counted towards his arrears.

My 2 younger kids has not seen their dead beat father since the end of May last year when their father tried to choke his own 7 year old child. My kids are terrified of him. I went and filed charges and of course nothing happened to him but let's call DYFS on me. I work part time out of the the home and about 30 hrs in the home. Anyway I filed child support back when I left him almost 7 yrs ago. I gave his address where he was working off the books and SS#. He doesn't file taxes but every now and then either I or my friends see him at the bar drinking and stuff like that. He has money to spend on that but not on his children. Also as most of you all know NJ is not cheap on rent and with other single parents out here we know first hand U need at least 2 incomes to rent something decent and as for me I need a 3 bdrm but at this point I have 1 bdrm for the 4 of us in the household. I pay for everything clothes especially now that they are both going through a growth spurt ages 6&8 a roof over their heads the bills and everything else that comes on as a parent and to find the cheap rent you would have to live in a poor environment. I know people with section 8 who have off the books jobs collecting from all different areas. Driving new cars and so on. That also needs to be looked into. Why can't there be more affordable housing? And not on a 10 yr or longer waiting list. Oh wait there is no list that is open. We are the ones that are suffering from all different directions. We need affordable housing and make the deadbeat parents pay for their children. My 2 oldest their father payed for them both! There has to be a way to enforce this child support. It takes to to make one and it shouldn't be only 1 paying for their children. No matter what my kids come first the get what they need I co hold off on getting things for myself. Everyone needs to sign this no matter if you're a parent or not. This is for the future of our children!!!

Please make some changes. My daughter is a single parent working a pt job and cannot make ends meet. We, of course, help but we can just do so much. Perhaps some changes with unemployment where the parent who is not paying has to actually report to unemployment and show they have been looking for jobs like they use to years ago! Just filing online and going to the mailbox does not motivate anyone.

I hope this helps. I also have trouble receiving child support. It's a never ending problem and so unfair.

Make parents responsable for their children. Children learn how to be good parents from their parents so what are we teaching them? That you can have babies and not have to financially raise them? Look at these numbers the answer is there.

It's not a question of whether or not it has to change, the question is how do we get it changed and fast. The custodial parents need to receive the money due not to us but our children that go without. The children are the ones being affected the most. It's about damn time the non-custodial dead beats pay up. I know it's hard but imagine how hard it is for those of us struggling and taking care of the children. LET'S GET IT DONE FOR THE CHILDREN!!!

As a grandparent of an ex dead beat son in law, I have seen the awful effects this has on the single parent and children. The law must be changed to enforce the rights of children everywhere to be properly cared for. There are too many parents that know just how to stay one step ahead of the law. If they are smarted than our government.....what does that say about our system? Changes must be made and enforced. Don't let your children suffer, and a dead beat adult lives scott free.

Long overdue! I am NOT a custodian parent, but I am married to one. It's incredibly frustrating to watch him, my wife's ex husband, not work any job, not make an effort, not make any payments, not do anything extra for the children whwifmy wife and I work our butts off to provide for her/his kids, the things that he does not. we just went to court to have him pay his share othladt year's medical bills for the children. The court supported us, but he is not made any effort to make a payment. We'll have to take him back to court and it's frustrating because we both know that nothing will happen.we basically have no recourse and just have to sit back and wait.
