Dear Brent,
I am so sorry to hear of your recent illness. I am sorry that the Probation Department did show you any consideration. How would you suggest that we change the laws in New Jersey? What would you feel as fair? How can we keep our children taken care of by both parents? PLEASE....we need ideas.

Alot of discussion on this one at our FB page "New Jersey Child Support & Advocacy Alliance". I agree with you...it makes it harder to find and keep a job. I also agree with the other side that there are not many enforcement options out there.
What are your suggestions regarding changin our system?

Thank you George. It is more then the children that the system effects...it is the parents and the entire family. We know the stress that effects the entire family. We know aunts, uncles and grandparents end up helping. We thank you. Thank you for caring so much about your sister and her children. Thank you for signing. Thank you for signing Tiffany and please share as much as you can. I am sorry about your recent surgery and I hope that things are getting better. I realize that the system is not fair ...especially at times like these. How would you suggest that the court enforce the support? We need ideas.

I hardley ever get child support and the system is horrible. They do not enforce it only with certain people and not my kids father. U can never speak to someone and if u finally do get a call back they give you the run around. I recently had brain surgery and was standing in front of the judge for the court bringing the father in for not paying. I explained my situation n really needed him to enforce it so we didnt become homeless n there was nothing at all the judge or enforcement officers could do. In the last year he has only made payments of 25 ecery 3 months but still no warrent its bull crap why even have it if they do not enforce it!?

I totally disagree with all of nj child support laws, and hereby have suffered from them, recently falling to heart disease I wasn't able to pay and all paperwork from hospitalizations and drs visits, Monmouth and ocean cty probation depts showed me no consideration

I have filed motion after motion on my own until I have received some enforcement, as he continued to pay his lawyer to represent him and not show up himself. After 1 year and Social Services got involved and $13,000 He finally got arrested, funny the "get out of jail card" was the full amount, he was suddenly able to make payment after spending New Years Eve in jail. The system is in need of an overhaul. It is the children who need to be heard!!

i feel as though if a person incarcerated their child support should automatically be seized! It's unfair that when a person is locked up and makes less than 20$ a month and by time he gets out he will be about 100,000$ in arrears!

I am custodial grandparent of two whose father is $76,856 in arrears and has been released from custody 3 times in the past 3 months after serving only 3 days in jail and not having to pay one dime in child support.

My ex is $7000 in arrears and Camden County is the worse on enforcing non custodial Parents to help support their children. Had a court ordered medical coverage and again Camden County is NOT enforcing.

I agree Daeja. You should have a parenting plan to see your children. If she is not abiding by it, then you should file a motion. THANK YOU for signing. We need non custodial parents signing and letting the world know that there ARE good dads. PLEASE keep sharing the petition and have everyone you know sign it....

There needs to be help for the guys that do pay child support pay their bills and rent and take care of their children...there are mother's out here that sit on they butts and just collect child support and won't let the father see their child...it gets so aggravating to see someone that is genuinely a great father to his children and he can't see one of them because the mom wants to be a b*tch...father's do suffer but the kids suffer more

Yes Kelly, and it is not just fathers. It is also mothers. Unfortunately, NJ has not found a effective enforcement method. There are SO many too. It is very sad and there are custodial parents all over NJ that just don't know what else to do. PLEASE keep sharing and get this petition out there. We are only as effective as how many there are of us....THANK YOU for signing.
