The pay raises will add cost in the future since the recipients will get them until they leave their job with New Haven. Eventually, higher pensions need to be paid too.

This is an irresponsibile move on the part of the mayor. No one on the private sector would ever get this percentage of a raise. It is unheard of. We need a balanced budget The city needs to live within its means like the private citizens do

Taxes are high enough. The average worker doesn't get an 11% increase in their pay, they're lucky if they get 3%.

The taxes we already pay are more than enough. We get nothing for it. You never see a police officer around. I don’t understand how they don’t see the speeding in this area, it’s ridiculous!

It is unconscionable that this tax increase is being imposed on the tax payers of New Haven, while large salary increases are being awarded to the mayor’s staff. As a retired teacher in New Haven there were many years our salaries were frozen due to budgetary restraints and never, when there were increases, did they come anywhere near the 10% the mayor is giving her staff.

Taxes are already to high. Raising salaries is appalling. Paying for illegal immigrants that came here illegally. I don't understand what our politicians can't figure out what illegal means.

we need to clean house. As a few very wise men once said "...to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

We demand the alders work for the will and interest of the people and stop the 11% tax increase and cut expenses. This Mayor is out of control and feels she can do as she pleases. If any Alder feels they can.t support the will of the people step down from your positions. If any of you have a conflict of interest, such as a job working for the city in another position, business interest, or are related to the Mayor and her staff should step down, Full disclosures of the above should be required if aspiring to be an Alder It is not possible to serve too masters. We respectfully as you to do you job we elected you to do..

The services for homeowners are decreasing, the taxes are increasing and I am looking for a way to move out of this town. And, no, I won't vote for Toni Harp again.

New Haven will look very different in 5 years. What is left of the middle class will disappear due to high taxation. I will be sure to vote against my Ward 25 alder and any other incumbent before I put my "for sale" sign up.

This is what happens when a whole city is married to a particular party and whoever they run. When everyone with a position is from the same party, and primaries are just rubber stamps this is what happens. No opposition, no accountability.

lessened so businesses will come rather than leave. (what is going on with Arts & Ideas, each year it becomes less. and less a destination)
