After living in New Haven for more than 40 years we are seriously considering leaving, there seems to be little chance that we have a voice in things and with the tax increase we are worried that once the next assessment takes place that will go up as well and then we will definitely not be able to afford to live here. Also, how did Mayor harp fund her recent trip to China?

Property taxes were just increased with the revaluation, to impose another 11% a year later on what was a 2% increase is just unfair!

We are retired, on fixed income. The increases will sooner rather than later compel us to leave New Haven, where we have lived for the past half century. During this time, we have been the objects of more than one arbitrary tax increase, basically to support not just needed civic services but sloth as well. When will there every be any relief?

An increase of this dimension is evidence of mismanagement and poor past strategies. Unless these change, there will be more increases with more people forced out of town and fewer people footing a larger bill. This cannot make sense!

Our alder informed us that Mayor Harp decided to raise pay to select staff. That is fiscally irresponsible and a complete insult to taxpayers. How is that permissible? Even if so, it is an irresponsible and unacceptable breach of public trust, as the city is struggling financially and taxes were just raised 11%.

These recent tax increases have not provided any increase in services or amenities for the taxpayers. They are a result of bloated administrative staffs in both the city and board of ed. The city has to better control their budgets. We need a mayor who can put in place budget controls. We have to do better, or no one will be able to afford to live in the city.

It's time that the elite who are running New Haven be put in their place. Fire the driver who drives Toni Harp EVERYWHERE and stop the pay raises. You're not the Queen of new Haven You need to do what's best for all not you and your sorority sisters!
