I talked my relatives into buying the house that I'd been living in for decades, convinced that it would be a good investment for them. Now I fear that I've trapped them into a financial quagmire. Please fix New Haven instead of continuously striking blows against it.

I am in total opposition of this tax increase. Where are the best in class results?
Where is the accountability for City of New Haven results?
What is the “best in class” size and organizational set up for a city government matching our profile?
Does anyone care that residents and talent are lost regularly because of this unsustainable cost structure?

No more "business as usual" in New Haven! The mayor & the BoA MUST listen to the voices of city taxpayers and stop this unjust tax increase & RIDICULOUS pay increases for her exec staff!!! Vote out any elected official who does not put the needs of city residents FIRST!

During the six years I have lived in New Haven, my taxes have pretty close to doubled. The value of my home may have increased a little. The costs are unsustainable and unaffordable. The prior tax increases targeted East Rock and now this across the board increase is on top of the prior ones for East Rock. Totally unfair.
Is the goal to force out middle class homeowners to make way for the very wealthy? Why isn’t Yale paying their fair share particularly on commercial real estate?

Pretty soon people who have lived in New Haven and purchased homes heRev will not be able to afford to live here. This is especially true for older, retired people, who even if they have paid off their moutage can't afford the taxes

As a recent New Haven citizen and home owner I am against the tax increase. It is already high enough and it will discourage more people from moving and buying homes in the area.

This tax increase must be eliminated. The city needs to take a closer look into how they are spending money rather than increase our taxes

Relying on property tax increases is not the solution to reconcile budget deficits.
And related; Is it true that city hall staff are receiving raises as residents are given the bill? Highly paid staff especially should be rejecting these raises.

The tax increase, and the lack of any commitment to controlling the city’s expenses, is shameful. The alders who approved this and resisted any common sense negotiation around the budget are abdicating their responsibility to their constituents. They should be voted out!!

Another tax increase is outrageous. Where does it end? They are pricing residents out of New Haven.

$30 million deficit. Using pension payments and debt proceeds along with future Yale increased Pilot is irresponsible and reckless. Granting pay increases up to 11% - is arrogant and insulting while demanding taxpayers fork over $30 million tax hike.

As a high school student here in New Haven, I’ve witnessed the negligence that most of the Board of Alders and Mayor Toni Harp has shown with regards to the taxpayers of New Haven. I obviously do not pay taxes due to my age, but its an abomination that more and more taxes are placed on hard working New Haveners. Enough is enough.
