What if a Senior is dating an underclass man ? They should be able to invite whoever they choose.

Is there any logical rationale for this decision? What is the data point that drove it?

I feel the students should bring their chosen date to Prom.
As someone who grew up in a very small town I experienced first hand what it’s like to have very few people my age to choose to date or ask to be a date to such an event.
These students have only one senior class of people to choose a date from. They don’t have other high schools near by to make friends with other seniors. So it’s very likely their friend pool includes juniors. Thus many are probably dating or would invite a junior.
This community is a unique situation especially for kids in school. The children of the military should be given every opportunity to have typical experience even though their parents jobs have brought them overseas and to our small community.
Thank you for your consideration.

Military life is hard enough on children. Don’t create extra stress in their lives when there is simply no reason for it.
From a US state-side Nana who misses her grandchildren enormously and wants their lives to be joyful.

Please let these kids enjoy this typical high school right of passage with the date they choose.
There are some who would choose to skip this event than go without their date of choice. In my opinion this is sad, they will never have the chance to have their Prom again.
They’ve sacrificed enough having endured Covid as part of their high school experience.
Thank you

The Juniors and Seniors should be allowed to bring "a date" from freshman to senior.

I went as a Sophomore in high school. I was able to enjoy the event with my Junior girlfriend and my Senior brother. It was a very memorable night that we cherish to this day.

Not sure as to the reasoning behind the rule. Seems a bit silly to exclude a person’s date because of grade level. These young adults are learning how to navigate relationships and take shared common experiences with them into the future. Would hate for students to miss out on this right of passage because they can’t share it with the person of their choosing. The student population is quite small so the extra effort is most likely minimal but the impact foe the students is huge.

I fail to see how allowing juniors and seniors to bring a date of their choosing, from any grade, adds to the high school experience for our students. That should be our goal as military parents and educators overseas, to do what is best for these kids; they sacrifice enough. A blanket “no freshman and sophomores at prom” is decidedly not what is best. There is no basis of logic in this decision whatsoever, and it had never before been the standard here at NMHS. This is a change not for the better, and should be repealed. Have the 9th and 10th graders who are invited to prom get a signed parental permission form, or meet with the pairs of kids face to face, make admittance conditional upon some sort of agreement, there are lots of options. Above all, let’s give these kids “normal American” high school experiences. It might take a little bit more work to get to “yes”, but that should be our goal. How can we say yes to these kids? This particular “no” is nonsensical.

In a community which can advocate for and control so little about their lives, this change is a meaningful one which comes effectively at no cost.
