Petition to Build a New Police Station: New Price, New Location

co-location at the firestation and a price under $10M makes a lot of sense

I am opposed to the location and the price.

I believe the Council and city government should disclose the cost of the project to date to re-locate the police station from the inadequate facilities they currently are housed in. And in light of the fact that the current station is known to be unreinforced concrete masonry, the City undoubtedly has incurred a legal liability should the current facility have a catastrophic failure. It is important to identify and secure temporary facilities until a new building can be constructed.

I fully agree that in light of the City's continued interest in properties immediately North of City Hall, councilmembers should immediately develop a new plan for a police facility. As the 75% vote against Prop 1 indicates, we oppose the $15 million price tag AND a police station at this location.

Please note that, we, the people, do NOT support the City's continued pursuit of a new police facility North of City Hall.

The results of the police station bond vote shows an Island-wide condemnation of the cost, the location, and the decision making process of our city manager and city council.

Police station should be located on H-305 for best access to most parts of the island.

I'm against a police station in downtown Winslow. It should be along the 305 corridor.

We need a city government that listens to and is in tune with this unique community. In 1990, there was a similar disconnect and out of that came a grass roots movement toward protecting the island from gratuitous growth, putting growth in the urban centers, and LISTENING to this unique culture. Bainbridge Island is not about city manager's desires. The city manager needs to be about out desires.

Enough already!! Why do we seem to have a city council that works against the wishes of its citizens? We have so much potential and it keeps being squandered......

Too costly. This portion of Madison Avenue is ridiculously, unsafe on all accounts to be considered. Seems like a "Public Safety Committee", would recognize this?

The location, cost, and concept of this combined facility was voted down loud and clear. It is important that the City Council and all who represent us, truly represent us, and not just forge ahead with this project. Time to restart.

Listen to what voters are saying. How about the large soon to be vacated Avalara space?????

Lower price, different location and separate the police from the courthouse so citizens still receive their due process.

Use the city's legal abatement authority under code enforcement to get the site cleaned up and paid for by the property owner. Not the residents! Select a different site with a lower cost.

Please consider that the 75% opposing your plan were not affected by the environmental damage revealed. The location is wrong for the growth of Winslow and the price tag is obnoxious.

Listen to the vote, the residents have spoken clearly. You have been elected and employed by the citizens of BI because we believe you can be trusted. How do you want to be memorialized in Bainbridge Island history.
