Misinformed people make these decisions.

Newtown, CT: I do not believe that moving the 8th graders to the high school is in the best educational/social/emotional interest of our students. For this reason I oppose closing the middle school.

I would prefer 6, 7 and 8th grades together rather than 8th grade starting in high school. We already have a horrible problem with drugs at the high school, why subject developmentally younger children to this?

After all that has happened here....:putting kids who are already sensitive and have some degree of PTSD in HS early is not a good decision. Starting with the most sensitive class is also not a good idea.

8th grade is WAY too young to be with high schoolers. Other options have to be available .

This school is a historical building in this town - and has only been used as a school! Please do not close this school and put 13 year olds at the High School. Absolutely ridiculous!! How could 13 year old girls and boys be around 18 year olds!!! Thank you!

$50,000,000 for a new school and now we are talking about wanting to close one! 8th graders and 12th graders is not the mix I would care to see for my daughter!

I agree that it is a bad idea for 8th graders to be in the high school. K-5, 6-8, 9-12. I think our 5th graders could use another year of elementary school as well. Sandy Hook.
