I am a Newtown parent and taxpayer. I cannot see any benefits for our children in the proposal to close NMS. The short term cost savings do not justify the harm that will be done to our children, or the reputation of our town and our property values.

7&8 need the MS. Pls keep their educational, emotional and social well-being the priority.

This move is only a financial move and doesn't put the students first . By financial I mean not even considering the tax payers, only town officials affected by budget

As an educator in a neighboring town and a resident of Newtown, I must say that this is the worst decision. 8th graders are NOT ready for the HS environment. It can not always be about money, sometimes it needs to be about the kids.

Please...as a local health care professional who counsels teens on a regular basis, trust us that they need their own school for 7th and 8th grade! These are the most pivotal, and often the most difficult years in that they are "finding themselves". To put them in the high school would be a nightmare for them at this stage.

The plan to move the 8th grade to NHS will be detrimental to our children's development and education. The financial benefits of the plan are small and far from assured. This trade-off simply doesn't make sense. The BOE should reject this plan.

I do not want my children to go to high school when they enter the 8th grade. Children grow up way too fast these days. I don't want to rush it any more than necessary. End of story!!!!

I believe there has not been enough research done and evidence provided to support moving eighth graders to the high school. In a district that continues to face uncertainty in terms of our students' social and emotional needs, any major restructuring of schools needs to be based in sound educational research.

Our Children are not cardboard boxes that should just be warehoused in what ever space is available. There are NO other Districts with the proposed configuration and for good reason.

Had my son at the middle school, I think they need to stay with their peers.

I am absolutely opposed to housing 8th grade students at the high school. This is a short-sighted solution to save a few dollars and does not have the best interest of students in mind.

My girls have graduated high school, but I am and would have been vehemently against this.

Please save our schools and utilize one for town offices, such as move the police dept. to Reed and put 5th grade back in the elementary schools and 6,7,&8 back in the Middle School . Closing the Middle School is not what is needed!!!

8th graders and 12th graders at same school. Recipe for disaster.

8th grade in high school is not even remotely close to an appropriate solution to the middle school closing.

As a father of two young daughters in the Newtown school system, I completely disagree with allowing eighth graders in the high school.
