Good Day Townsville Council. This is URGENT.
I have just been to Townsville visiting my two daughters and eight grandchildren. I have been so delighted at your having a skating rink up there as one of my grandsons in particular, has taken to it like a duck to water. He's 14 and although he plays rugby, Ice Hockey is the best thing that has ever happened to him. He's a wonderful young man - it has given him standing for the first time - people respect him and his ability to conquer an unique sport. I was so looking forward to watching him play.
When I arrived,I was immensely distressed to hear that you have suddenly closed down the Ice Skating Rink and that he will no longer have something to enjoy. He is devastated, as is his mother and so am I. There are many people who LOVE ice skating. PLEASE PLEASE DO re-open it as soon as possible. My grandson is one of many youngsters who needs a discipline at which he excels. He's an average student, struggling sometimes with where he stands amongst his peers. Ice Skating has given him a great level of personal achievement. So I'm truly praying that you will re-open the rink as soon as you can. It has been the saving of many a young person in Townsville. Thank you

Best of luck with this. Maybe get in touch with the army and air force, the defence force have just identified ice hockey as an approved sport, get them on board

Wow! I never heard a word about it until a couple of days ago. Townsville needs an ice rink and surely solar power could offset the costs. Good marketing for events social or otherwise would make it viable. Thanks to the old managers for keeping it open for so long but better focus on this business would have kept it viable and open.

please consider keeping an ice skating rink in townsville. The ice skating has made my first arrival in australia when we migrated from
Philippines enjoyable. It gives and bring back a lot of memories and help me and my sister enjoy townville as a new home.

My daughters have done ice skating for nearly three years and we are all devastated that warrina has closed. Hope a new one gets built
Keep the rink! Promote all ice sports to keep the kids (and adults) busy, healthy, and out of trouble!!
