Townsville is home to the Warrina Ice Skating Rink, a rink one third the size of a normal competition facility. Despite this we have produced national champion skaters, ice hockey and broomball players. Sadly we may soon lose this wonderful facility, the only Ice Skating Rink in Queensland outside of Brisbane.
We currently have over 300 people who use the rink weekly to pursue their sporting dreams as well as hundreds of children from the community who enjoy utilising the facility as a place to safely meet with friends and escape the heat of the tropics.
We are therefore asking the community to help us get a new skating rink for the Townsville region. The North Queensland Broomball Association, Figure Skating Club and Ice Hockey Associations will be presenting the petition to Local, State and Federal
Governments to get funding for a Full Size Ice Rink in Townsville which will be run by these clubs for the benefit of the whole community.
If you believe that the people of Townsville should have a full size ice skating facility please sign the petition.
HELP KEEP AN ICE RINK IN TOWNSVILLE!!!

The momentum is incredible. Townsville clearly wants this rink and the officials are starting to notice.

please consider keeping an ice skating rink in townsville. The ice skating has made my first arrival in australia when we migrated from
Philippines enjoyable. It gives and bring back a lot of memories and help me and my sister enjoy townville as a new home.

Please build a full size Ice Rink for the community of Townsville. It's a very productive and healthy activity for children, teens and adults. Keep them active keep them clean and healthy. Ice Sports are growing rapidly in Australia . Don't be left behind. Do your community a favour.

Warrina Ice Rink was one of the few social entertainment places for Townsville kids, to be kids while getting exercise.
The Townsville community can not afford to lose such a place.
Our Council must step in.
How much does our Council give to multicultural activities each year?

The government gives funds to support other sports, there needs to be investment into the Ice sports- which will result in return revenue with tournaments, comps and events. Hoping for more skating rinks Australia wide.

I've been playing broomball there continuously since 1990 and now my son plays. We need a new one so he can follow his dream to play nationals and then worlds like his old man :-) Playing for your country is a fantastic motivator. We need a new rink ASAP!!
