A Lido is an excellent idea. I would make great use of it. Selling it to The Unversity of Southampton would be a terrible idea. We need the openspace of the lool in cotrol of a public body.

Fully endorse this idea. If we are to ensure our kids do not enter the 'obesity trap' then facilities like this need to be accessible.

The City needs a dedicated purpose built sports facility. It needs to be fully accessible for disabled people including hoists for the pool, a hydrotherapy pool and wheelchair accessible gym equipment.

Founder member of Winchester & Dist, Athletic Club in 1976. Former National GB Coach. There is a need for a comprehensive indoor training facility for athletics in Hampshire such as at Brunel University, London. The nearest !!!!!!!

When I moved here I was shocked that there was no 50m pool in the Winchester or Southampton area, this would be a big improvement.

Please build the pool a county town needs at Bar End. Preserve our playing fields and ease traffic congestion, by moving it out of River park.

Hampshire needs more 50m swimming pools. Portsmouth is the closest to Winchester, I believe.

I think if developing an entirely new leisure complex then a 50 metre (or at the very least 33 1/3 metre) pool should be built. This would enable improved training facilities, the opportunity to host more competitive events and better facilities for all swim groups. Having recently moved from Richmond on Thames (where the pool is 34 ish metres) I can say with confidence that a larger pool is not 'niche' or used only by some. In contrast it is viewed as an excellent resource. Richmond, by the way, also has an outdoor 25 metre pool which is heated in the summer months only and provides a great meeting place for all ages!

I swim for Winchester Penguins swimming club and I would benefit from training in a 50m swimming pool and nit having to travel so far to other pools

The youth of Winchester would love a bigger pool and better swimming facilities

I feel stingily that a 50m pool with flexible dividing booms (maybe not a variable depth) is the only sensible plan to cater for the next few decades. To build another 25m pool I don't believe improves the leisure sure provision much at all!

With obesity problems and a community desire to enhance their city and well being, only good can come of this great idea.

I am stunned that there is any opposition to investing in a 50m swimming pool for Winchester. It will create a further compelling reason to visit our wonderful city, provide the platform for athletic excellence and encourage a healthier community. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity- we must support it.

A 50m pool complex would make such a difference to the local community

The existing amenities are out dated & too small. We really need a 50m pool with 'designed for purpose' facilities

Please let us have a 50M pool!! Expanded facilities capable of hosting competitions at all levels are critical to the long term sporting success and health of our community. It is not a coincidence that the most successful communities have easy access to fit for purpose facilities.

We need more 50M pools in this country if we are ever to have decent swimmers
