Grieving is a timely process, 4 days is not nearly enough time to come to terms with such a loss.

This is appalling. The death of one of my classmates whilst at Edge Hill was greeted with such compassion and our tutors were incredibly understanding giving us extensions where we needed them. I couldn't imagine losing a family member.

This is terrible, I understand that a deadline is a deadline and lecturers need tome to mark them but this is disrespectful surely another solution could have been thought up. Salford uni you should be ashamed!

The university should be far more compassionate! What is a few more days when a student is going through the death of such a close family member!

You get time off work for losing family members so I think it should be acceptable for time off uni/extension, especially when it is such a close family member aswell, my thoughts go out to the family.

I think this needs looking at ASAP. People need time to come to terms with their loss.

Shame on you Salford University! I believe a re-assessment of this policy is required as a matter of urgency. The suggestion of a two week extension seems reasonable and fair. Come on get your act together!

Its worthwhile getting the Manchester Evening News involved. The publicity may give them something to chew on. Absolutely Disgraceful!

Absolutely disgusting treatment, the university is putting rules and a heartless 'no exceptions' attitude over the wellbeing of their students. I really hope this goes somewhere.
