New pavements/cycle lanes in Walton on Thames are DANGEROUS!!!

Great idea the narrowing of the road to one and half lanes at walton traffic lights. Now road gets blocked when people turn right causing more congestion.

During heavy traffic along Terrace Road, due to delivery/other parked vehicles, I've seen on at least 3 occasions Emergency Response Vehicles struggle to negotiate the traffic which inevitably increases the risk of accidents and will - in an Ambulances case - increase the critical response time for those with life threatening injuries. Preposterous decision to even contemplate these new paths.

Bloody stupid idea,20 or more cyclists cycling 2 abreast during rush hour, customers unable to NOW stop outside shops and deliveries also effected.

Totally agree, why not just paint white lines for bike lanes cheaper and far better solution

Totally agree, on top of this as a mother of young children, I think it is ridiculous that you should expect children not to run into the cycle lane. It's an accident waiting to happen! Surely this was the council trying to use up budget at the most sensible, less disruptive idea would have been to paint a cycle lane on the road!

Ok who got a bung for setting up the contract on this bright idea only way it even makes sense because it sure aint safe or cost efficent

Total wast of money

This has been discussed, within our family and friends circle for weeks now. I was stuck behind 3 cyclists on the narrowed road, while they swerved all over the road looking at traffic behind them, when they should have been using the cycle path. I also witnessed a cyclist going at a high speed, nearly collide with a pregnant lady, stepping out of her front gate. We've all seen on the news, what can happen if a cyclist hits a child on the pathway too.. The dividers are ridiculous, cyclists in pedestrian parts and vice versa also a woman with newborn's in a double pram, getting bitched at by a cyclist, for taking up too much room then having difficulty getting the pram past the dividing post to cross the road safely. A balls up all round!!!

Waste of money Causing chaos and traffic delays

The cycle paths you put in place may seem like a good idea but it's not, pedestrians have no respect for cyclists, I've had one woman tell me to ride on the road when I was using the cycle path. It's more dangerous what you have done and you've wasted all that money! Well done, give yourselves a pat on the back!

Totally agree this was a waste of money . Just makes it even more of a hazard trying to get past cyclists riding 2-3 abreast

I have trouble understanding why the link from Walton bridge to the leisure centre wa no put along the national cycle path that already exist s along the rhanes path

I agree with all of the above and ,the very busy 2 lanes at the traffic lights by carpetright walton, has been reduced to 1 and a bit lanes , creating more queues .

We feel exactly the same about the new layout: dangerous, pointless, waste of huge amount of money. Who on earth approved this project? We would like to know how much this has cost. Is the council obliged to divulge this under the freedom of information act? Furthermore, now the lanes are so narrow, large lorries are forced in the opposite lane when turning/ overtaking cars that are now being parked on the wider footpaths. Crazy..
