New pavements/cycle lanes in Walton on Thames are DANGEROUS!!!

Cyclist ride too fast to be alongside pedestrians, and now the roads are too narrow to be able to over take cyclist using the road, totally stupid idea

Terrace Road in Walton is now almost a no-go zone as it is clogged up with traffic trying to get past the parked cars that now take up one whole lane, particularly near the car-spares shop. Plus trying to get past the cyclists that are (obviously) still using the (now narrow) road, is nigh on impossible.
whoever gave this the go ahead should resign from their position of power with immediate effect (probably the same person who made Walton bridge worse...)

I already know of an elderly lady having her arm knocked by a cyclist on the pavement path he was going too fast.

No cyclists are using the new cycle lanes and if they did they would be a danger to parents and children also using the pavements. Seems an absolutely ridiculous idea, making traffic flow much worse and parking even more difficult. B

Cyclists don't use the cycle lane and the road is now to narrow to overtake them on the road. This is causing more traffic to build up! Waste of time and money! The crossroads are also worse as the lanes are so narrow causing more traffic to build up there too!

The new cycle lanes are ridiculous.
1. Cyclists do not use them as they are unsuitable for cycling.
2. Roads are narrower and there is no room to overtake cyclists on the road.
3. Roads are now so thin that when pulling out of junctions there is so little room the front of your car is facing oncoming traffic in the opposite direction.
Only a matter of time before someone is killed.
Well done Surrey County Council.

As a resident of the affected area it was a ludicrously dangerous decision in every single respect with no gain for anyone except the company doing the works. Complete incompetence on behalf of the Council and any subsequent injury as a result of the changes falls entirely on their shoulders- it's a total disgrace and utter stupidity.

Nearly every day on the news we hear of the death of a cyclist in London and the surrounding areas. This pathetic project is a complete waste of our money and it is not acceptable!
I am a motorist not a cyclist. and this is a danger to all road users

The roads are more dangerous than ever now... Only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured! By separating cyclists from motor vehicles, the risk to cyclists is increased on the occasions where the two modes must interact, such as at junctions and side-roads. Where a cycle track crosses a side-road, cyclists are at particular risk of being hit by vehicles turning into the side-road. This negates any safety benefit of separation.

As a cyclist who lives in Walton I can only see that this cycle lane is useful for young children only who aren't ready to use the road. I would not consider cycling on a pavement with so many junctions I would then need to give way at. Waste of money and it has made my husbands cycle to work worse as he uses this road. I am all for encouraging and improving cycling but this is not it.

It's good for parents with children that's about it, the cyclists still use the road, causing even more unnesacarry traffic and I gaurantee more rtas will happen

The cyclists don't even like it. They prefer a flat road. All they has to do was leave the pavements alone and paint a cycle lane side of roads. Bit of white paint that's all!!

Cyclists are not using this new cycle lane, I travel down the length of them to get to and from work and it has become a nightmare to overtake tge cyclists that are now riding in the narrower road. This os dangerous for all road users!

By making the paths wider, it has meant that vehicles coming out of sandy lane, are having to pull out so wide, almost to the point of oncoming traffic, to turn. Apart from, if the cyclists do use the path, are pedestrians safe, people walk there children to school, there's no separating, whos fault will it be if someone is hurt?
