They are dangerous for mother with push chairs children, made traffic slower as hard to over take if vehicle parked as road too narrow stupid idea also bikes still on road

This road has become a nightmare. I have been in situations where I've had to do an emergency stop because of a car overtaking a cyclist or because of cars parked on the path/road. The cyclists are not using the path they only use the road (which is understandable) there is going to be more accidents happening and the council don't seem to care. This money could have been spent in schools, doctors, hospitals but no they decided to spend their money on conjuring up an idea to cause serious accidents along a main road used to get from Hampton court to Walton bridge. I really am lost for words for the people who came up with this ludicrous idea and who put it into action.

The pedestrian path along Hersham road is so slim you need to breathe in. This same path has cyclists on the path/ then the road/ then the path again. ...How does this work?

I am so concerned about this entire planning. The roads are so narrow as to be almost impossible to have 2 cars passing by each other with nothing else on the roads. The widened 'pavements/cycle path' is not suitable as a safe way for either the cyclist or the pedestrian. The council tax money paid by the residents has been completely wasted with no sensible planning and actually ignoring those who should be using the cycle paths - ie. the 'professional' cycle clubs in the area who will still use the roads. Pedestrians' safety will be considerably compromised and I urge the council to rethink this very quickly before someone is seriously injured or killed. A cycle lane on the restored wider road would be far more successful and sensible and would have also been less costly. Surely this should have been tried in the first place.

Totally agree! It seems like madness! Why was this done? How much did it cost? Agree that a painted cycle lane would've been fine and hardly cost anything in comparison to what's been done.

What on earth were they thinking!? I want a freedom of information request to see how much it cost. There are schools and hospitals crying out for this money. Honestly, who at Surrey County Council put the rubber stamp on this? This is just ridiculous. I am incandescent with rage!

The narrowing of Terrace Road, a busy 'A ' road, is now just an accident waiting to happen. Since the Olympics and other annual cycle races, Terrace road has become a cyclists Mecca at weekends, and I fear that it will only be a matter of time before we see some serious accidents.

I am a cyclist and will not use them, who in their right mind would consider making an obstacle course for us, stop, dismount, back on, repeat, a painted lane with flexible bollards would be far better, the over extended paths by the lights in Church Street, High Street etc are a death trap waiting to happen, have already witnessed lorries mounting them trying to turn, any person or buggy in the way, no chance, re-think, remove and replace originals, also, WHY were the safety rails all removed? dented ones proved they were needed

It's the most ridiculous bit of civil engineering I've ever seen; The narrowing of a major thoroughfare which easily accommodated bicycles, cars and trucks, to one with an impractical pedestrian/cycle path (which cyclists won't use because it crosses ends of roads and there'll be clashes with pedestrians) and a narrower road constricting one of the arteries of a major town.

Cyclists are not using the Cycle lane on the pavement that has been specifically provided for them. They continue to use the road that has been marginally narrowed. This has become very dangerous for the cyclists and the motorists especially down Terrace Road.

Please reverse the decision to make the pavement wider to accommodate cycle lanes which cyclists won't use. It's leaving the road too narrow especially with few road cyclists on it plus makes the paths dangerous for pedestrians as their space is now shared with people cycling. Totally pointless job surrey County council
