New pavements/cycle lanes in Walton on Thames are DANGEROUS!!!

Not only is Terrace Road now too narrow the entrance to Dudley Road has been made much narrower and as people park on the corner for access to the shop it is sometimes very hard to turn in to or out of the road.

They have taken away the barriers at the traffic lights too. Cars now come up the kerb to go round others turning right as the road is too narrow. This happened while I was waiting with my 6 year old children / very dangerous.

This plan is fundamentally flawed - a simple painted cycle lane would have been plenty. I have yet to see a single cyclist use the path! I have only experienced the terror of watching cars, lottie's and buses attempting to overtake cyclists on the now dangerously narrow road!

I am a road cyclist so is my husband it is so dangerous now we can't use them we would get hit by a car in side roads and may hit someone walking ie child dog older person !!!

It was a very ill thought through idea. This puts ALL users at higher risk, disabled pedestrians the more so.
Cycle lanes are a great idea, it should be exactly that. A separate, independent lane that is well defined and protected from all other users.

As a casual cyclist (no Lycra) it has effectively removed one of my routes into Walton - ridiculous!

A stupid plan. We have roads that are falling apart that need to be sorted for everyone. Have not seen a single bike on this path and never will. Cyclist don't want to be on a pavement. They want to on the road. They just want to have the room that a lane would give. Now someone will get killed. Who ever did the traffic management on this must an idiot. Bad wasp for being involved.

Those new pavements are a waste of our money! As mentioned the roads are thinner and you NEVER see anyone use them besides walkers and moms with buggies. Why change the road layout if it didn't need doing. AND the works going on for 8 MONTHS! Waste of time and waste of OUR money!

I totally agree with what has been said, not only would it be dangerous, I can't imagine the cyclists that belong to a club that's out in force on a Sunday in groups of 10 or more using the pavement, they should of spent our money on filling the holes in the road

The whole thing is ridiculous the road is too narrow now and it's hard to over take cyclists! I don't blame them for not using the path it's dangerous. Also how do children know which side of the pavement to stick to? They need to put it back and make a simple cycle lane!

Ridiculous .. Whoever gave the backing needs to be sacked !! Obviously didn't do their homework as usual .. More money bloody wasted !!

Quite right. A nightmare road made worse by pavement widening. Bring on even more congestion than has been seen pretty much daily since the new bridge was built.
