I agree, even if you are a recreational cyclist starting and stopping all the time at the many junctions is exhausting deterring people using the cycle path.

Local resident. The wide pavements cause the following issues: - difficulty pulling out of Cambridge road, garden road and sandy lane as the lanes are so narrow you risk hitting an oncoming vehicle. - traffic backs up from lights next to carpet right towards the bridge because of the right turn lane onto the high street. Cause Even worse traffic than normal. This forces traffic round manor road as a short cut and causes bottlenecks there. Yesterday my husband witnessed some serious road rage on manor road. - cyclists are still on the road not the pavement so slow down traffic as overtaking is difficult. - you can't walk 3 abreast on the pavement as technically half is now for cyclists. This makes walking my children to Grovelands school dangerous.

another road planning disaster which is going to put lives at risk to "assist" a minority of people who will use it. "Proper" cyclists will not use this facility due to the constant junction. Families out cycling will prefer the towpath which is quieter and has no junctions. The congestion in Walton will only be worse due to this and the other two wheeled users of the road are put in more danger with nowhere to go.

Totally agree. I do not recall any consultation with local residents.

The money they have wasted in doing these cycle paths which the lycra brigade will not use and apparently don't have to, the council could have properly repaired so many of our pot holed roads that they can't find the money for so it would seem. Why just Walton for this worthless scheme?

terrible design, and I'm convinced the reduced road width at the town centre cross roads has further increased traffic congestion.

They now cause more traffic than ever before! You have reduced the road width for two cars potentially causing collisions. Cyclists are certainly not any safer

An absolute joke. Maybe serious cyclists should have been consulted first. It's not obligatory to use cycle lanes and why should they if they're constantly having to stop/start. The negative point from me is that if a car parks on the main road it narrows it down to one lane causing more congestion than the cyclists themselves. It just seems like the council had money to waste....

Ridiculous, cyclist still use the road this not only makes it dangerous for them it's now causing even more congestion around the walton bridge area. Well played.

A painted cycle lane is all that was needed from Walton bridge to waterside drive, the cycle lane that was need most is terrace road and Hurst Road on the reservoir road as it is 40mph and dangerous!

Really stupid idea,it's outside my house in Walton road and my 2 year old son was almost knocked down by a cyclist on the way to nursery and all the serious cyclists still use the road and the congestion is worse than ever, the council are idiots

Stupid!!! The person who signed this vast waste of money off should just be sacked !!!! Put it back, and spend the money on speed restriction for lorries on our roads. Fix the potholes .... Or how about dropping the prices for dropped kerbs so the cars can be parked off road ????
