Although I am now a teacher, there were a few years that I worked through school in the service industry in the French Quarter. If I was lucky enough to find parking, often times it'd either be too far away to get to during my lunch break or I wouldn't be allowed to go pay it at all before the meter expired. It was bad enough to have to pay to even be at work (low wages for the amount of hustle/hassle, harsh conditions, terrible hours, etc made it sting even more), but if I was ticketed because of the above, sometimes a decent portion of my day's wages would go to paying fines I couldn't help. I can't even bare to think of how ridiculously unfair it would be to have to go through this working a "double" shift into the evening, having to pay more at the meter, risking multiple tickets or even being booted or towed!! Please reconsider this burdensome & unfair proposal. Although we all work hard, remember that not everyone has the luxury of position, privilege, & VIP parking!!

This will impact folks who work in the city and play music. Not a good idea! These are the very folks that keep NOLA tourist worthy and up and running!

Safety is such an issue in this beloved city and every effort should taken to provide cheap and safe parking for those who work in areas that are safe

This parking change is absurd. Not only does it punish people working in the city, it makes it impossible to park on the street for Pelicans and Saints games as well as concerts where the audience isn't allowed re-entry. This needs to end.

Never sure where parking meters apply: on Saturday in freight zones, at now-unused driveways, when meter is out of paper?

I work in the French quarter as a bartender. While I can accept an increase in rates during special events and holidays, during the rest of the year it's important that my coworkers and I be able to find affordable parking when we come to work.

I do not own a vehicle and can see how ridiculous extending the parking meter hours and rate increases would be. Our Mayor doesn't care about the artists and working class people of New Orleans if such an income-gauging policy is put into motion. Value your citizens, Landrieu and Council--your job is to serve your community. Do your damn job.

This will hurt locals who work downtown and will keep local residents from patronizing businesses in the evening hours. I go downtown less and less and this will keep me from going there even more.
