As an employee downtown, I feel this is yet another obstacle. Mayor Landrieu is not thinking of the working class of this city at all. Before this city implements increases and extensions on meters, it needs to step up and match other cities like Boston with public transportation. This city needs stored-value, reusable and rechargeable transportation cards.

New Orleans, this parking idea will hurt my business and ultimately end one of the most important reasons why tourist flock to The Birthplace of Jazz.
Exemption stickers on windshields for workers (food business, musicians,etc...)

I work in the tourism industry in the quarter and this new parking fee is totally unfair to people like me who are just trying to get to work and support the city's economy!

Affordable street parking in NOLA is one of the things that makes our city so refreshingly accessible. Why change that? If the city moves forward with this plan, they better take a long hard look at improving public transportation...

This will make it very hard to work in the quarter when i have to drive and have no other option. It'll also cause me to have to walk alone as a young female, increasing the risk of danger.

/Signed. This is a silent back-door tax on those who can least afford it, without referendum or even city council vote. If Landrieu needs more "general funds" money to balance budget shortfalls, go to the people and propose a proportional tax, or rate hike. Don't try to make up the difference by putting it on the backs of workers and tourists. It's excessive in both cost and time frame.

This is clearly just another way for New Orleans to take money from its poorest citizens. The tourists who do drive here aren't parking on the street, and neither are locals with money. Come on, New Orleans, you're better than this.
