I work on Bourbon and it's already bad enough that we have to pay for parking in garages to feel safe but I can't afford to pay every night that I work to pay for parking for 10+ hours so I park on the streets after 6pm so I can make it into work on time just to make ends meet. This change will just make locals hate NOLA downtown even more and turn away tourists.

I believe more income should be obtained from visitors to the Quarter and CBD, used to put in Street Lights, maintain roads and sidewalks, and pay for better (any?) traffic enforcement. However, there needs to be some type of deep discount/parking pass for those who work in the districts. Instead, hire more meter maids to ticket expired parking which is not very closely monitored, or crack down on blatant red-light running. Thank you. p.s. I live in the Quarter.

9th ward resident opposed to parking meter increases which disproportionately effect new orleans' lower income residents. If the city needs money let's stop giving the film industry so many free perks until they agree to ensure that more of the money they spend stays local

This adversely affects locals, service industry and musicians. The FQ is not a theme park. Parking rates need to remain accessible those who keep the FQ authentic, viable and special. Don't get me started on how this adds to safety concerns for females. Maybe we should add Musician Loading Zones and parking. Shuttles to discounted service worker lots. Instead of burdening underpaid New Orleanians. It should be illegal to pay workers $2.13/hour.

There are many unanswered questions here. I'd like to know where this extra cash would be placed. I'd also like to know if raised to $3, why do we need to make it to 10pm?

Musicians, servers, bartenders, performers, that is who will pay this extra parking; the people who give New Orleans its culture and keep it what it is. You want every musician stopping a set and saying "hold on,,,,let me go feed my meter" you want servers in the middle of their shift saying "sorry, you're meal has to wait, I have to feed my meter." This is not fair. It is mean and greedy. It is the opposite of what we stand for in this city; generosity, hope, faith, and a welcoming spirit.

The work force is the sole group being relied upon as a base for New Orleans' tourism infrastructure. Why would you create a barrier to entry for larger gains elsewhere?
