As someone who works regularly in the French Quarter and CBD area, these increases are crippling. Please understand that many tourists that visit our fair city are not driving here, they are flying. The increased rates for meters and now lots are adversely affecting those who work and live in this area.

This parking hike is ludicrous & unfair. The raise in price in addition to the length of paid parking hours hurts people working and living in the quarter, which is already difficult enough with ticket-happy meter maids & all else. This hike feels corrupt, greedy, and unfair, please don't create this public image for both visitors and locals.

Having bartended, waited tables, worked retail, and performed on stages in the French Quarter on and off since 1997, please, PLEASE don't make working in the French Quarter even harder than it already is. If not for the people who MAKE the French Quarter what it is known for worldwide, then do it for the French Quarter itself. It wouldn't be the same without us.

This would have a huge effect on the hourly income of working class people in New Orleans. You can't think of a way to pay the firefighters back that doesn't impact working folks? Ask one of the big developers you're in bed with!

Extending the hours of paid parking, along with the recent aggressive booting and towing of cars, is a truly shameful way for our city to raise revenue. Shame on you, Mitch Landrieu.

This is extremely counterproductive. The little revenue it will generate (approximate 4million) is just bad form and negative towards small business. It will inconvenience residents who live adjacent to shopping districts by sending vehicular traffic on to residential streets for long term parking.
