Local workforce is majority parking at meters. Tourists mostly use cabs ,garages or walk from the hotel. We working class folks , who are underpaid musicians & service industry can barely afford rent&bills much less parking. Music,food&culture are the reason tourists come. NOLA should Honor its workforce &give us a break so we can continue to drive it's economy!

The proposed parking fees (and the resulting fines) place an undue burden on the service industry and other workers who rely on metered spaces as parking. Please do not adopt this change.

Rents are going up precipitously with no tenant protections offered by City Hall, wages are stagnant, now even perking so one CAN work is going through the roof. Thanks, Mitch! Great work. Keep it up. And don't forget to give away the store to the developers.

I am a musician & have a hard enough time parking for gigs and believe it's infair to charge more money and later meters, it will effect out city in a negitive way.

I'm a musician working in the quarter. I like giving back local. The money I'm paying off the meters isn't going to local business. I feel it's going to an already flawed system just aiding corruption.

This move is not only an insult to the hardworking backbone of the quarter (who struggle enough with the logistics of working in the quarter), but will ultimately cost the city in lowered tourism. VERY tourist (and community) UNFRIENDLY move. Shortsighted non-solution.

As a sales rep that sells to many of the French quarter gift shops - this is horrible for those of us who come downtown to make a living. Taking more money from the underpaid people who work to keep this city thriving. Nice work. If we MUST raise the price of parking - we need a massive spike in minimum wage. It's hard enough to live here with all the robberies, vandalism, etc, Always taking our hard earned money.

I am largely signing in solidarity with service workers who already struggle to park near their work, and musicians who have to transport their instruments to gigs - losing valuable income just to get to/from work. Additionally, as someone who lives in close proximity to the Quarter, it would be a major detriment to many of my neighbors who are older and struggle to find parking near their homes on weekends and evenings. This rate increase would push more tourists and car traffic into our residential neighborhood.
