Raising the parking rates and extending the time will negatively affect New Orleans citizens. This law will make it impossible for servers, bartenders, and musicians to park in safe, well-lit areas near there place of employment.

This puts an undue burden on those who work in the French Quarter/CBD (primarily service industry, lower income bracket) where parking options are limited, and will dissuade locals from spending time in the Quarter/CBD. (In other, less dense areas, there are often nearby unmetered spots, so the impact will be felt less.)

This city is already incredibly hard on its working poor, and this will be just one more way to make their lives difficult. The French Quarter, the heart of this city, has broad staffing shortages because residents have such a hard time getting here, which this will only worsen. Are you worried about crime??? If the answer is yes what you want to do is SUPPORT the working poor, and give them tools to rise up. This is the opposite of what the city of New Orleans needs.

This is ridiculous. How about focusing on police issues instead of parking meters? How about looking into why the police force isn't accepting more applicants?

Parking in New Orleans is already outrageously priced. This will make it FAR less likely that I go to the city. I will stay in the suburbs where parking is FREE.

lets stop taking money from the pockets of the employees and local patrons that help make downtown what it is. I live in New Orleans, I want to be able to afford to enjoy New Orleans... and not feel forced to hang out elsewhere.

As a French quarter resident, parking is challenging enough. To make it more difficult for locals, friends and families of locals, service industry workers, and tourists will hurt the city an individuals more than it will help.

Parking is already at a premium in New Orleans. There is no reason people who are trying to make a living in New Orleans should have to spend half of their earnings on parking.
